While death investigation is still on going to determine the cause of Murphy's death, it is reported that she passed away due to cardiac arrest.

AceShowbiz - Hollywood was hit with another celeb death report on Sunday, December 20 when film beauty Brittany Murphy passed away at 10:04 A.M. The death of the 32 year-old film star sent public in disbelief taking into account that she was still young.
Cause of death is still not yet determined as investigation is still on going. In the meantime, TMZ exclusively reports as being told by multiple sources that Murphy went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived.
Chronicling the events that led to the actress' death, the site claims Murphy's mother Sharon found her unconscious in the shower. A 911 call was then made at 8:00 A.M. from the Los Angeles home of Murphy's screenwriter husband Simon Monjack. When paramedics arrived, they were told by Sharon that her famous daughter had a history of diabetes. Determining Murphy was in full cardiac arrest, paramedics immediately administered CPR.
Paramedics continued performing CPR on Murphy while they were transporting her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which is several miles away from the scene. Unfortunately, the attempt failed and Murphy remained unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As of the press time, TMZ reports that death investigation has been launched by the LAPD. Attending physicians as well as Monjack and Murphy's mother Sharon will all be questioned by authorities.
In the wake of Murphy's death, a representative for her has issued a statement, saying "In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy."
