'Where the Wild Things Are' Glams Up for N.Y. Premiere

Attended by many celebrities including Tom Hanks and Blake Lively, the special screening event takes place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City.

"Where the Wild Things Are" is literally days away from its theatrical debut, and to celebrate that the Big Apple has played host to its premiere. On Tuesday, October 13, red carpet was rolled out to greet cast, crew and celebrity guests coming to the special screening event which took place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

Spotted walking down the red carpet on the special evening among others was the movie's leading actor Max Records. He arrived in companion of author Maurice Sendak and director Spike Jonze. His co-stars, Forest Whitaker, Catherine Keener, Lauren Ambrose and Catherine O'Hara, were present as well.

"Angels & Demons" star Tom Hanks, who serves as the movie's producer, also made an appearance at the premiere. In addition, the red carpet saw the attendance of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' singer Karen O who contributes to the soundtrack, and president and COO of Warner Bros. Entertainment Alan Horn.

After stepping out to the premiere of "The Stepfather" with boyfriend Penn Badgley on Monday, October 12, "Gossip Girl" leading lady Blake Lively went solo to this event. Other celebrity guests included Forest's wife Keisha Whitaker, "Rachel Getting Married" director/producer Jonathan Demme, and comedian Martin Short.

Adapted from a children book of the same name, "Where the Wild Things Are" revolves around imaginary adventures of a young boy named Max. Being sent to his room without supper, the disobedient little boy creates a forest inhabited by many large imaginary monsters, who crown him their ruler. Befriending a large monster named Carol, he soon learns the meaning of love. This family fantasy is coming out in U.S. theaters this Friday, October 16.
