Movie

Clearing up speculation about her returning to another 'Underworld' film, Kate Beckinsale says she still doesn't know whether she will reprise her role as Selene, but still keeps an open mind for it.

AceShowbiz - Kate Beckinsale has put the brake on the rumor of her returning to "Underworld 4". In a press conference for her upcoming thriller "Whiteout" on Friday, August 28, she told Collider she still did not know whether she would reprise her role as Selene in another "Underworld" film, insisting report "is just a rumor."

"God, three whole more!" Beckinsale stated when she was asked about report which said she has signed on to a new "Underworld" trilogy. She added, "I don't think my daughter needs to see my bottom in rubber for another ten years. But I don't know, I've heard they're talking about a 4th one, but I don't know if that's officially happening or it's that a rumor. As far as I'm concerned it's just a rumor."

Asked if she will do another "Underworld" movie, Beckinsale answered, "I don't know anything about a 4th Underworld. I don't know anything about that at this point." She then explained, "I know they have...it was always conceived as a trilogy, which I was never going to be in the third one. I think if they came up with an amazing script I wouldn't be adverse to it. But it's not planned or anything."

In early August, it was reported that Screen Gems is developing a fourth "Underworld" film which will focus on Selene, a Death Dealer which was portrayed by Kate Beckinsale in "Underworld" and "Underworld: Evolution". Later, it was said that the studio will make a new trilogy for the action film series though there were still no words on who will direct or produce the project.

Though Kate Beckinsale's Selene character did not appear in "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans", she did provide her voiceover in the beginning and the end of the trilogy's last film. Beside starring in the first two "Underworld" films, Beckinsale is known for her roles as Anna Valerious in "Van Helsing" and Nurse Lt. Evelyn Johnson in "Pearl Harbor". Her acting can next be seen in "Everybody's Fine" and "Fragments".
