On Friday, May 22, MTV has announced that Ben Stiller will be this year recipient of the Generation Award at the network's film awards show.

AceShowbiz - Zac Efron will be taking participation at 2009 MTV Movie Awards by presenting Ben Stiller with a golden popcorn statuette later this month. On Friday, May 22, MTV confirmed the matter in addition to announcing the latter actor as the recipient of the awards show's highest honor, the Generation Award.

Stiller will be honored with the award due to his memorable comic creations over the last 20 years. Some of his hilarious characters include oblivious male model Derek Zoolander in "Zoolander", good hearted but hapless male nurse Gaylord Focker in "Meet the Parents" and self-absorbed action star Tugg Speedman in "Tropic Thunder".

"I am honored to be getting the Generation Award," Stiller said upon learning about the bestowing of the award. "I was given my first show at MTV and also canceled for the first time. I also was secretly having an affair with J.J. Jackson, so it brings back pleasant memories." He is joining the line-up of past recipients that include Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey.

2009 MTV Movie Awards will be aired live on MTV on Sunday, May 31 with "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg serving as the host. Ryan Reynolds, Leighton Meester and Lil Wayne are among the announced presenters, while Eminem and Kings of Leon will make a live performance. Leading the nominations is "Twilight", with seven nods.

Fans can vote for the winners starting Monday, May 4, in MTV Movie Awards. The voting line for Best Movie will stay open during the live awards show. In the meantime, MTV has released a new promo video featuring Eminem.
