88 million votes came pouring in during "American Idol" Top 3 performance night but only one million separated the Top 2, meaning that the final may be a close call. America has voted, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen advance to the next round while Danny Gokey has to end the journey third place.
On Tuesday, Gokey sang Terence Trent D'arby's "Dance Little Sister" and was criticized for his awkward dancing and the song choice, which actually was Paula Abdul's pick. And then in the second round the Milwaukee native went acoustic with Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful". Simon Cowell called it "a vocal master class."
Filler of the night was a performance by season 6 winner Jordin Sparks who debuted her new single "Battlefield" accompanied by piano. Katy Perry was also in the house, singing "Waking Up in Vegas" and wearing a cape with "Adam Lambert" written on the back.
There was a cross promotion of "Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian" where cast such as Ben Stiller, Bill Hader, and Hank Azaria were present. Idol Gives Back also put Alicia Keys on the front to introduce a video of their work in Africa. A little boy named Noah who came from Rwanda then performed "I Am the World's Greatest" and Alicia explained that he learns English through singing a song.

I won't be watching the final of this 'singing' competition 'cos I've realised it aint a singing competition. Kris is not bad but has got through on his looks which he tends to spoil by singing out of the corner of his mouth. Adam is a great performer but always follows the same format; a quiet start followed by a predictable crescendo. Danny is a great singer therefore he can't win. His intonation, phrasing and expression are impeccable but audiences think singing is all about singing really loud or really high. That's why they always whoop and cheer when a singer does it. Danny is a singer's singer; a musician in other words and not winning Idol will probably be the best thing that could have happened to him.

All 3 contestants deserve to be in the final 2. But unfortunately, only 2 can be selected. Gokey's voice is the best of all 3, but I think the show has evolved to allow for overall performance, why else allow people to play the piano or guitar. Danny got a bad song from Paula but the Song he did choose Joe Coker You are so beautiful he should of song with no backup music. If he did that he blows the other 2 guys off the stage. Kris has been hanging out in the shadows all season with a performance that's bad then coming back with performances that rival ADAM's such as "Aint no sunshine", "She works hard for the money", and "Heartless" which was wtf "Brilliant". I heard both versions of the song. He cranked out the best version by far. Dude Randy is on point with that observation as well as Paula with that performance was fearless. It tooks some big ones to sing a very recent well known R&B song and flip the arrangement and do it in an acoustic arrangement. ADAM is ADAM, you love him or you don't. He has an amazing voice too remember "Tears of a clown" for those who say all he does is scream or "Mad World". Lastly, this is the most talented group of artists I have seen on idol. Archuleta, Sparks would not made the final 5 on this group. I think Allison, Gokey, Adam, Kris and Lil should be doing albums. I did not care for Anoop and Matt. Good luck next week.

Kris Allen is in the finals because of his boyish good looks - nothing else. He has a very limited voice range, sings soft songs just like Jason Castro. America made a stupid mistake. I'm so sad that Danny got the boot, but not surprised. Adam Lambert was on the COVER of Entertainment Weekly a week ago! How fair is that????? And the way he has been promoted by Simon, who basically asked people to vote for him, and the way he was called a "rock god" by Cara, was just going too far. Adam is a good performer. But everything he has done has been a theatrical production, which Simon used to hate. What ever happened to "this is a singing competition"?? Kris is a really talented arranger, but his voice is not star-quality. It might get there after some time and practice, but at this point he just doesn't have it. He seems like a real sweet guy, though. Danny had by far the best voice, and if it weren't for all the games IDOL played he would have won. He sang his "swan song" after he was illiminated even better than the night before. It made me cry. It's just not right. Thank heavens Danny is still going to come out of this strong and on top. I'll be looking forward to his first album.
I hope Kris wins! I thought Danny had a great voice and would have loved to see a Danny vs. Kris finale. Sorry but I'm not on the Adam bandwagon. I just can't handle it when shriek-boy starts singing... sometimes his songs will start out nice but then he starts screaming and sticks his tongue out and I have to leave the room... not enjoyable much! This season has had the most flagrant and obvious pimping of a contestant (Adam... duh!) that I've ever seen... Ryan has NEVER mentioned the number of votes separating contestants; Katy Perry with Adam Lambert scrawled all over the back of her cape!; Paula picking a song for Danny that no one in the universe has ever heard before or would ever want to hear!?!; Simon talking about personally calling U2's Bono asking permission for Adam to sing "One" and saying Bono said it would be his honor for Adam to sing it... **rigged much**; The judges, especially Paula, drooling all over themselves when Adam so much as moves on stage; Simon giving Allison a not so good review when she absolutely was brilliant on "Alone"; Adam allowed to be on the covers of magazines but Danny not allowed to appear on "Good Morning LA"; The show is Wack this year and the four judges concept sucks. I miss last season but thank god I can follow David Cook's tour (saw him at William & Mary and will see him again in Va. Beach in two weeks!!!). GO KRIS!!! Why is everyone bashing Kris?? To me he was the best that night? Adam, once again was shreaky and predictible. Danny wasn't on his top game either. you know until the rat pack week i thought danny was getting a little dull but he really picked it up after that. His performance of you are so beautiful was staggering and he hit ALOT of different notes he had not touched in other performances. To be honest i was disgusted by the praise the judges gave Kris. He's a good bloke and his version of Heartless was good but in NO WAY was it great. Lambert will win but Gokey was the only one who could've given him a competition on the finale. Even if Kris wins his performances will NOT be sensational. also i think its really unfair that Danny got criticised for the judges pick. think he did a great job with what he was given. Kris? He got boring after the first few weeks...same voice, same tone...too predictable. Didnt see last nights show but I'm glad I didn't otherwise I would've broken something. Shouldve been Adam vs Danny, they both have talent and we don't know what to expect when they're up to sing. Kris is by far the weakest singer of the top 10...Will NOT be watching the finale.

Danny has been my favorite from the beginning especially being from Milwaukee and all. It was really sad to see him go and it's going to be hard to still watch on Tuesday.But, Now that he is eliminated :( my vote will move on to Adam. This is only because i think that Kris should have been voted off by far before Danny and maybe even before others that have been voted off. Danny had to personality and singing ability to fit the 2009 'American Idol' but since people didn't see that now its all a singing competition. Adam will not win, it is not because his singing is not better. It is because there are so many Adam hater from the Danny's camp and they will just vote for Kris regardless. At the same time, Adam will do fine without the crown. In fact, it may work out better for him. Did anyone take a look at the strings can come with the crown American Idol? On the performance wise, Kris and Adam are just from two different house entirely. Adam's song on the Studio version from i-tune is amazing. For the fact it has outsold Danny and Kris is a fact and is good indication. Many of the Adam said "they will not buy Adam CD", you know what, who cares? YEAH for the top 2...Adam and Kris! Both strike me as great guys! They had the best artistry and both took risks. Kris has been getting stronger each week, although it bothers me when he spits into the mike with his "p"s. Adam Lambert's ready now...he's got the vocals, the range, the artistry, and he's ready to handle the attention. Hope everyone votes for the best singer. Kris is a very strong #2 and both artists will certainly achieve lots of success.

The final should have easily been Gokey vs. Lambert. This is bullshit. All the little teeny boppers voting and texting their brains out are really messing up the voting.
OMG!!! I really liked all three, but I'm dissapointed about the whole Adam Lambert cape thing, i never heard about that... but I really hope Kris wins, he is very cute and did an AMAZING job the last few weeks. boo adam, hooray Kris!!!!!
Give me a break. This show is rigged. Tuesday night the judges tell everyone to vote for Adam. Instead, of saying be sure to vote for your favorite idol! Then Alicia Keys comes out with a cape with Adam's name on it! Why don't they just crown him the idol now and forget about next week. Dan is still my #1 idol! He will join the long list of Idol's who were kicked off the show and gone on to have amazing careers!
You guys a whacked! Adam deserves to win American Idol. He has been the most consistant and most original artist Idol has ever seen. Although Kris' teeny-bopper following may edge the true Idol (Adam) out! Can't wait till next week!

Wow.... I'm really surprised than Kris made it, but it's exactly what I wanted. I know Danny and Adam are good, but I think Kris deserves to win this thing. I loved Danny tho, he's a great performer. Good luck to him. GO KRIS!!!
