There's a chance that Hayden Panettiere will star alongside "Footloose" rumored lead man Chace Crawford. According to E! Online, the "Heroes" beauty has auditioned for the role of Ariel Moore, the love interest of main character Ren, in the updated remake of the popular '80s film.
E!'s reporter Marc Malkin noted that the 19-year-old has sung for the filmmakers and her singing ability allegedly impressed them. "They were really impressed," Malkin quoted an insider of the audition. "No one realized what a good singer she is." Should Panettiere make it to the next round, she is likely to have a dance audition and a read with Crawford. Still, her representative remained mum on this story.
"Footloose", a remake to the 1984 Kevin Bacon-starring film, reportedly will be made into a musical movie. It was originally set to be Zac Efron's starring vehicle with Kenny Ortega directing. However, the "High School Musical" heartthrob has turned down the part and "Gossip Girl" hunk Chace Crawford has been lined up to fill the empty slot. It is expected to start its principal photography in Atlanta sometime this spring with a budget over $20 million.
