Lil Wayne's New Album Is Not Rock Record, Birdman Says

'I think people are getting misunderstood. When you speaking about a rock record, you think he's got a guitar and everything, but it's not that,' Birdman says of Lil Wayne's new album 'REBIRTH'.

AceShowbiz - Contrary to reports that Lil Wayne's next installment "REBIRTH" will be Weezy's first rock album, fellow rapper Birdman, who is also Weezy's mentor, says otherwise. "It's not a rock record," Birdman tells Vibe Magazine.

"That's what I think people are getting misunderstood," Birdman furthermore says. "When you speaking about a rock record, you think he's got a guitar and everything, but it's not that. It's going to be some of those types of beats, but it's just great music. I don't think no artist can do what he about to get done. My son is a rock star."

"He can rap, he can sing, he's just an artist," he continues. "I don't think no one will ever be greater [than Wayne] because I don't think no one puts in the time or the quality. If someone do come along, can you imagine what he'll have to do? He got to put out on thousand mixtapes, do a thousand records [and] sell 100 million records. 2Pac [Tupac Shakur], Jay-Z and Biggie [Notorious B.I.G.] didn't get to the s*** Wayne's done."

In related news, Lil Wayne is set to hold a one-night-only concert at HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London on June 6. Kid Cudi has been recruited as a supporting act at the gig.

"REBIRTH" itself will arrive in U.S. stores on June 16 after previously being moved from April 7 to May 19 and then pushed back once again to June 9. With the new release date, the record will no longer face off Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D.", Billy Talent's "Billy Talent III", Maino's "If Tomorrow Comes ..." and Sonic Youth's "The Eternal", but it will go head-to-head with Ashley Tisdale's "Guilty Pleasure".
