"Jay-Z is confirmed as one of the key performers," a source told The Sun. "In weak years there have been problems securing the big international artists. But knowing Jay-Z is there will help to secure other big acts now."

Over the past 12 months, between June 2008 and June 2009, he has been pulling in an estimated $35 million, an amount which is $47 million less than his earnings in 2008.
Last year's winner, 50 Cent, drops to the 4th place. He is reported taking in $20 million, down from $150 million a year ago. The earnings are said coming from his Vitamin Water deal, G-Unit clothing line and numerous licensing deals.
Jay-Z Confirms Signing Roc Nation Deal With Sony

When asked about a distribution deal he recently secured for his upcoming studio album "Blueprint 3" with Atlantic Records, Jay-Z clarifies that it is just a one-off deal. "That's pretty much just for this specific album. Roc Nation -- we're experts in marketing and making records. But we do distribution deals," he explained. "On this one, we're working directly with the Atlantic staff, which is Julie [Greenwald], Lyor [Cohen], Kevin [Liles] and Kyse [Mike Kyser]. For the rest of the Roc Nation artists, we did a distribution deal with Sony."

New York Daily News' gossip column reported that Jay-Z will release the collaborative album which is tentatively titled "The Kings of Hip Hop" through his new but not yet confirmed label, Carter Music Group. Jay-Z himself is due to release a studio album this year while Nas has also set date April 22 for his album "Nigger".

Bad news. China won't welcome Jay-Z. Not without reason, but the country's Culture Ministry have denied the US rapper to perform a concert in Shanghai because his music was considered containing too many profane references.

Contestants are to write and record a Nets theme song. Entries must be recorded on a CD or tape, addressed to "Nets Song Contest," Nets Basketball, 390 Murray Hill Parkway, East Rutherford, NJ 07073 besides be uploaded via Hot 97's Web site (http://www.hot97.com).

Jay-Z Faces A Lawsuit Over Diamond Cutter
December 10, 2005 10:12:23A former WCW World Champion named Diamond Dallas Page is attempting to sue rapper Jay-Z, accusing him of stealing his trademark hand gesture. Filed a lawsuit against the star last week in Los Angeles, Page alleged that he was the first one to use the trademark gesture, Diamond Cutter, in 1996 during his WCW World championship run.
In fact, the hand gesture comprises of putting two hands forward with thumbs and fingers to form a diamond shape, has been featured on the front of many of Jay-Z's albums as well as in his videos. Thus Page is attempting to save his livelihood besides claiming unspecified damages as compensation from the famous rapper and Roc-A-Fella records.
2 Live Crew Member Sues Jay-Z & Ice-T
November 18, 2005 02:11:29Marquis Ross, so people call him. A former member of 2 Live Crew, Ross has filed lawsuit against Ice-T and Jay-Z, claiming he is entitled to royalties for a song titled "99 Problems" made famous by Jay-Z as part of his top-selling "The Black Album."
The court papers, filed Monday in U.S. District Court, mentioned that Ross claims he wrote lyrics and a beat similar to those featured in the chorus of the song which was eventually copyrighted by Jay-Z. Further, Ross claims that Jay-Z's 2003 and 2004 recordings are based on a song by the same name that was released a decade earlier on Ice-T's "Home Invasion" album.

One of the performers sang at the event held May 5, 2005, was rapper Jay-Z, whose special surprise appearance shocked the crowd of 50,000 inside Giants Stadium as they screaming and waving for the legend.
Along with Jay-Z there was The Game, who during the Sunday's show used the stage to air out 50 Cent, saying the press conference they had ever held as a fake. Some other musicians opened up the event among others Amerie, D-Block, and the Diplomats. Ghostface Killah and Sizzla performed during the D-Block set, while the Diplomats were joined by Houston's Paul Wall.
Jay-Z's Countersuit Against R. Kelly Dismissed
May 18, 2005 10:05:19Monday May 16, 2005, a Manhattan judge has come to a decisison, which was dismissed Jay-Z countersuit against R. Kelly stemming from November 2004 incident, in which the rapper was booted from their 40-city Best Of Both Worlds tour.
The suit against Kelly was, indeed, Jay-Z counterclaim in response to the R&B singer's $75 million U.S. lawsuit against him and his associates, claiming one of Jay's bodyguards discharged pepper spray into his face. As a result, Jay-Z then counter-suing Kelly with two claims, that Kelly cheated him by breaking a promise to put on a good show and that Kelly interfered with his contract with the tour promoter.

April 20, 2005 10:04:59Rapper Jay-Z and watchmaker Audemars Piguet are partner and have announced Tuesday April 19, 2005, their creation of a limited-edition timepiece, which is a series of 100 watches that will retail for between $23,500 and $69,500. Jay-z who co-designed all the watches admits he chooses to partner with Audemars mainly because of the quality and integrity of the brand, and the watches are to commemorate his 10th anniversary in the music industry, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the S. Carter Scholarship Fund.
