Lil Wayne's Rock Album May Not Be Released Under Universal

Lil Wayne

Rumor has been circulating in the media, claiming that Universal refuse to release Lil Wayne's rock-themed album 'REBIRTH'.

Rumor has it, Lil Wayne's forthcoming rock-inspired album "REBIRTH" will not be released under Universal Music Group. The decision is withdrawn by the record label's executives because they fear that the album will fail and knock Wayne from being the top-selling singer.

According to This Is 50, people at the recording company have warned Wayne through his manager Cortez Bryant, saying that "if Wayne doesn't brighten up they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it's never going to be released." As of press time, no comment has been shared by the rapper's management team concerning the rumor.

Lil Wayne previously pushed back "REBIRTH" from April 7 to May 19 release. He will enter recording booth with alternative rock band Fall Out Boy and make a collaboration with the Patrick Stump-fronted band in the record.

"Prom Queen", the first single off the record has been released since late January. Using Auto-Tune on the hook, it rose to number 15 on Billboard Hot 100 and charted at number 16 on Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles despite its rock genre.

Haha, oh my God... Lil Wayne makes it waaaay to easy to insult... First off, everyone who is a 'rocker' (and everyone with commom sense) knows that Lil Wayne knows nothing about rock, and the fact that he grabs Fall Out Boy for the project only makes it better... And Prom Queen was nowhere near Rock, that stuff was just a pathetic attempt... Hell, he's a pop/RnB star not no Hip Hop artist... He should go hide... But none the less I really want to hear this album, just to say FAIL...

Lil wayne sang everything from hip hop to jazz to rock styled songs... Its just his style that makes the songs good. Sure ... hes no John Mayer when it comes to guitar... but If any rapper in the world can make the transition from Rap/Hip hop/RNB to rock, its lil wayne.

just like a record label. Always thinks they know whats best for the artist. Let the man put out what he wants. Wayne is a perfectionist with this shit. He runs the rap game now. And a so called rock c.d. will only diversify his music making him a true artist and not a rapper.

To be quite honest, he ain't Linkin Park...I don't know about this. Although he was smart to bring Kevin Rudolph on board with an album...niiiice.
