Successfully portraying Christopher in 'The Pursuit of Happyness' proved to bring advantage for Jaden Smith as he landed a part in 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'.
Following his father's footstep of being an actor, Will Smith's 9-year-old son, Jaden Smith has landed himself a part in the 20th Century Fox's "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Though the speculation of him starring in the sci-fi thriller remake has broken out earlier, Hollywood Reporter has just given out the confirmation.
According to the site, the young star in "The Pursuit of Happyness", in which he played opposite his father, will be playing Jacob, the rebellious 8-year-old son of scientist Helen Benson who first makes contact with a humanoid alien Klaatu. Smith will also be joining the star studded cast consisting of Jennifer Connelly, Keanu Reeves, Kathy Bates and the Golden Globe winner Jon Hamm.
"The Day The Earth Stood Still" resolves around the humanoid alien which arrivals on Earth triggers a global commotion as governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind his appearance. The sci-fi thriller directed by Scott Derrickson has started its principal photography in Vancouver and is set to be released on December 12, 2008.
