'I Am Legend' Prequel Gets Thumbs Up

According to Variety, the studio have set the project in motion as the film's star Will Smith, who is returning as Dr. Robert Neville, and director Francis Lawrence are reportedly going to collaborate once again for the new project.
The script for the prequel will be penned by D.B. Weiss and is based on a detailed outline that was hatched over the past few months by Smith, Lawrence and producers, Akiva Goldsman and James Lassiter. It will center its story on the final days leading up to wiping up of the New York population by the man-made virus.

Another year, another favorite. Move over Tom Hanks because people have their new favorite. It's Denzel Washington. The Hollywood hunk has been chosen the No. 1 America's Favorite Movie Star in the nationwide Harris Poll of 1,147 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive between December 12 and 18, 2006.
Dropping from number one to number two is Hanks, while movie legend John Wayne remains in third place. Tough guy Clint Eastwood jumps up two spots to fourth place. Next on the poll is Will Smith who along with actress Julia Roberts tie for the 5th spot.

Finding each other still eager to work together after their latest project "The Pursuit of Happyness", Sony Pictures Entertainment and Will Smith are set to collaborate once again in developing a new big screen feature titled "Sisters of Mercy", Variety has reported.
Written by Steven Bloom, the picture focuses on a widower father who is rescued after his wife's death by members of her book club, who soon begin running his life with their advice on parenting and dating. Smith will serve as the film's producer via his Overbrook production company alongside partner James Lassiter and Alex Siskin.

When it comes to Hollywood public's Most Favorite Stars, veteran movie actor Tom Hanks is the best. In a new Gallup poll which involved 1,003 adults conducted from Nov. 27 to 29, it is found out that 44 percent of movie goers will go out of the way to watch one of Hanks' movies.
Come right after him is Robert De Niro with 33 percent of the votes, followed by Julia Roberts in 3rd spot with 29 percent of the votes. The 4th Most Popular Stars in Hollywood are Will Smith and Sandra Bullock with 27 percent of the votes.

Variety reported that Hollywood actor Will Smith has reached a deal to star in the new adaptation of "I Am Legend" which is about to be directed by Francis Lawrence.
The adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, "I Am Legend" is set in post-apocalyptic New York. The story tells about the last healthy man following the release of a virus that decimates the population. To survive, he must battle mutants that wreak havoc during the night.

When it comes to "Thief", Will Smith is just perfect for Universal Pictures. The studio reportedly has attached the Hollywood actor to star in a feature adaptation of the TV series "It Takes a Thief" which original version ran from 1968 to 1970.
Besides starring in, Smith also is on board producing alongside his Overbrook Entertainment partner James Lassiter, Kevin Misher, John Davis and Joe Singer. Set to write the script is David Elliot and Paul Lovett.
