Taylor Swift's 'Red' and 'Les Miserables' Soundtrack Top Billboard 200

January 04, 2013 03:20:35 GMT

Taylor Swift's "Red" continues to dominate the Billboard 200, according to figures tallied by Nielsen SoundScan for the final sales week of 2012 from December 24-30. With 241,000 records sold, it even exceeded earlier estimates made by industry sources that it would sell at least 225,000 copies.

It is the pop-country music sweetheart's seventh non-consecutive week at the top spot. Combined with the 11 weeks at no. 1 achievement of her previous album "Fearless" and 6 weeks by "Speak Now", it ties her with Adele for female artist with most weeks at no. 1 with 24 weeks, with the latter's 24 weeks no. 1 all coming from her "21" album. However, it seems that Swift will soon be edging out Adele as "Red" looks uncontested at the moment, with no new major albums to be released within the week.
