Nicolas Cage Reunites With 'Con Air' Director for 'Medallion'

Still in the production of "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance", Nicolas Cage has already lined up his next project. The Hollywood Reporter (THR) says the 46-year-old actor is on board for the lead role in action movie "Medallion", which will be financed by Millennium Films.

Cage will portray a father, a former master thief, who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. Clive Owen and Jason Statham were linked to the project at one point.

In a "Girlfriend"-esque lines, the "iCarly" star yells, "You! Me! In the spotlight!" In other parts, the Nickelodeon songstress sings in a Ke$ha rap style, "I like you and you like me/ We get together and we're happy/ Did you hear me say that?/ Did you hear me say that?"

Country star Tim McGraw and soul icon Lionel Richie are set to dig deep into their family roots after signing up for Lisa Kudrow's hit U.S. series "Who Do You Think You Are?". The singers will join Vanessa Williams, Kim Cattrall, Steve Buscemi, Rosie O'Donnell and Ashley Judd as guests on the family tree show.

And former "Friends" star Kudrow, who executive produces the programme, is delighted to see other celebrities interested in researching their ancestry. She says, "It's not just like you show up for a couple hours and you're done. It's kind of a commitment. So the people who want to do it are genuinely interested in finding answers to their questions."

And despite his stellar career, Diamond insists he was in no rush to enter the Hall, telling the Associated Press, "I thought about it occasionally, but I kind of figured they'd get around to me at some point." Love adds, "Finally it's done. It still hasn't hit me yet. I still have that nervous stomach, and I'm still excited."

Colin Firth has withdrawn his support for Britain's Liberal Democrat party after they helped push through a controversial rise in U.K. student tuition fees. The "Bridget Jones's Diary" actor supported the party's leader Nick Clegg throughout his campaign to become British prime minister in May and was one of the group's most famous celebrity backers.

The Liberal Democrats formed a coalition government with the Conservative party after the election, and recently put forward a huge rise in the amount students will pay for a university education - even though Clegg promised fees would be scrapped if he came to power. The U-turn has seen mass student protests in London, many of which have ended in violence.

Rip Torn Escapes Jail in Bank Break-In Case

Actor Rip Torn has escaped jail for his drunken bank break-in in January this year after pleading guilty to a list of charges. The "Men in Black" star, 79, was found sprawled on the floor of the Litchfield Bancorp building in his hometown of Salisbury, Connecticut clutching a revolver. The actor was reportedly intoxicated and told cops he thought the building was his home.

He subsequently pleaded not guilty to a number of offenses and checked into a treatment facility in New York to face his personal problems. However, a judge decided Torn's prior alcohol issues disqualified him from registering for the probation program and set a trial date.

Back in October, GaGa tweeted, "Eltoneo + Guliet! Finishing our duet Hello, Hello in studio. Sounding so amazing, some last finishing touches and off to the movies!" The song reportedly will be played in the movie when the two lead characters, lawn ornaments named Gnomeo and Juliet, meet for the first time.

Carlos Godspeed from Top Agent Booking is facing legal action from live promoters Chris Moreno, Sonny Manila and Roger Manila after allegedly misrepresenting himself as a booking agent for the hip-hop star.

He reportedly agreed to set up a Jeezy gig in Houston in 2008 in exchange for an advanced payment of $50,000. But the concert never materialized and Godspeed only returned $23,000 of the cash, prompting the three promoters to sue for the balance.

Filmmaker Michael Moore has donated $20,000 to help WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange make bail in the U.K. as the embattled internet activist fights allegations of rape and molestation. Assange, founder of the WikiLeaks website that leaked secret U.S. documents, surrendered himself to Scotland Yard authorities last week to answer a Swedish arrest warrant on one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape allegedly committed in August this year.

He has denied the allegations. On Tuesday, December 14, he won a bail request after agreeing to post $378,480 with the help of Moore, a supporter of Assange's efforts to make secret government documents public in the U.S.

From playing the piano in a dark room, the YouTube singing sensation is transported to a highway full of speeding cars, empty rooftop with city view on the background and street crowded by passersby before brought back to the room in the middle of cheering girls. He closes the clip by playing under the rain.

The piano used in the music video is designed by Chance who takes inspiration from Paramore's "Riot!" cover art. He told MTV, "I wonder if I can make a piano like that? So now we actually have the piano with all the different words, and then I've always dreamed of having an inverted piano with black keys and white sharps and flats, so we have that too. It's been really cool. I'm so glad it's there."

Johnny Depp is glad he was finally able to make a movie version of Hunter S. Thompson's "The Rum Diary" - because it fulfills a promise he made to the writer before his death. The Hollywood star met cult author Thompson "many years ago" and claims he and the writer discovered a long-lost script at Thompson's home, which they agreed to work on as a film with director Bruce Robinson.

The script Depp and Thompson discovered was published as "The Rum Diary" in 1998, but the movie project fell through because Robinson had decided to take a break from Hollywood. So Depp was delighted when the filmmaker revisited the proposal following Thompson's death in 2005, as he can finally fulfill his promise when the picture is released next year.

Rockers Train are celebrating after their hit song "Hey, Soul Sister" was named the most-downloaded track of 2010. The song, which sold 4.8 million copies in the U.S. alone, was an online hit and topped the iTunes playlist over the previous 12 months, becoming the eighth most-downloaded song of all time.

Katy Perry's "California Gurls" was the second biggest iTunes hit of 2010, and "Love The Way You Lie", by Eminem and Rihanna, was third. In the iTunes album chart, Eminem's "Recovery" was named top seller of the year, with Ke$ha's "Animal" in second place ahead of "The Fame" by Lady GaGa.

Justin Bieber Is Most Googled Artist of 2010

Justin Bieber has been crowned king of the internet after topping Google's list of most searched for celebrities. The teenage pop star dominated the search engine's end-of-year Zeitgeist list, edging out Katy Perry to top the Fastest Rising People chart.

Selena Gomez came in at number three, followed by Kim Kardashian and Eminem at four and five respectively. Bieber also topped Google's Fastest Rising in Entertainment ahead of Shakira in second place and Eminem at three. Lady GaGa failed to make the top five on either chart, limping in at number six on both.

Michael Jackson's Photos Sold for $265,000

A collection of Michael Jackson photographs have sold for more than $265,000 at auction in Paris, France. The snaps were taken in 1999 by French photographer Arno Bani as the pop superstar attempted to revamp his image ahead of the release of his 2001 album "Invincible".

A number of the Bani shots had been intended as the record's artwork, but other pictures were chosen instead. The photographs were sold off in 90 lots on Monday, December 13 and the collection raised more than $265,000.

Basshunter Arrested, Manager Denies Sexual Assault

Swedish singer/DJ Basshunter has been arrested and questioned by police over an alleged sexual assault on two female partygoers at a nightclub in Scotland earlier this month. The "Now You're Gone" hitmaker - real name Jonas Altberg - is accused of attacking two women at Kitty's in Kirkcaldy, Fife after a show on December 9.

The 25-year-old star has been arrested and charged with an unspecified offence under Scotland's Sexual Offences Act. He was released on bail and will appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in January.

Yo Gotti Surrenders to Police Following Warrant Issue

Rapper Yo Gotti has surrendered to police in Memphis, Tennessee after officials issued a warrant for his arrest in relation to a shooting in the city last month. The hip-hop star, real name Mario Mims, is said to have been involved in a verbal altercation with a pal, OG Boo Dirty, on November 29 when a third man became involved.

A fight is alleged to have broken out, resulting in a shooting which ended with up to six people being injured. Memphis police announced they were keen to talk to Mims, who was away from the city for business reasons, and on Monday, December 12 the star returned to speak to cops.

Jimmy Kimmel Sued Over 'Flying Rabbi' Video

American TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel has been hit with a lawsuit from a man who claims the star used a YouTube video of him on his show without permission. Dovid Sondik alleges the clip, entitled "Flying Rabbi", which shows him ranting in Yiddish, was played on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in August.

He says he was never asked before TV bosses used the recording and he filed suit in Brooklyn Supreme Court on Monday, December 13. Sondik accuses Kimmel of appropriation of likeness and violating YouTube's service terms, and claims the clip has ruined his reputation.

Lindsay Lohan Due in Court Over Lawsuit Against Her Fashion Company

Lindsay Lohan is set to leave rehab on Tuesday, December 14 to attend a court hearing about a photographer's lawsuit against the star's fashion company. Scott Nathan filed papers in April alleging he was hired to take shots of the "Mean Girls" actress for her clothing label 6126 in return for a one per cent interest in the business.

But he claims he has received no payment, and is seeking unspecified damages. He is also suing Universal Music Group for copyright infringement and breach of contract, alleging one of his photographs was used on the cover of Lohan's single Bossy.

Justin Bieber Cleared of Assault Charges

Justin Bieber will not further deal with law following an alleged assault to a 12-year-old boy. His manager has confirmed to TMZ that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will not file charges against the star over the alleged attack on October 15.

As reported before, Justin was accused of punching the boy at a laser tag center in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada last month. Some sources, however, had previously told the site that the alleged victim was actually the aggressor as he called Justin a homophobic slur before getting physical with him.

Jon Favreau is not going to return to the next "Iron Man" film. Following a report first brought into attention by Vulture that he will not direct "Iron Man 3", the filmmaker has confirmed that the news is indeed true. "It's true, I'm directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3. I've had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best," Favreau just tweeted on December 14.

While the helmer "is excited about the opportunity to go do his own thing", Kevin Feige as the ultimate custodian of Marvel's "Iron Man" franchise "sees it as an opportunity to bring some more fire to the franchise," Deadline Hollywood said. Marvel is said to have begun the search for a replacement.

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage," they said Tuesday, December 14 through their publicist, Meredith O'Sullivan.
