Nelly Slams Label for '5.0' Flop

November 30, 2010 03:45:16 GMT

Rapper Nelly has launched a scathing attack on his record label following disappointing sales of his new album - insisting poor marketing and distribution are to blame for the lowly chart position. The hip-hop star's latest offering, "5.0", entered America's Billboard 200 chart at number 10 following its release earlier this month, selling 63,000 copies.

But Nelly, who has enjoyed top three hits with all of his previous records, is adamant the album could have performed better if it had been properly supported by his bosses at Motown. In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "A record deal is a 50/50 partnership! As (an) artist it's your job to provide the record company with music that they (record company) can sell! Thing about the partnership is that (in) the public eye the responsibility is not 50/50!"

Nolan, who will act as a producer on the film, recently hired "Watchmen" moviemaker Zack Snyder to direct it, and Affleck has now revealed he was "tempted" by the job, but decided to leave the superhero movie to a director better acquainted with big budget blockbusters.

Peter Jackson Responds to 'The Hobbit' Racism Claim

November 30, 2010 02:55:47 GMT

A representative for director Peter Jackson has admitted casting crews working on "The Hobbit" made "an incredibly unfortunate error" after a British actress claimed she was turned down for a role in the film because of her skin color. Naz Humphreys, who has Pakistani heritage, attended an audition in the New Zealand city of Hamilton last week but alleges she was rejected because movie bosses only wanted "pale-skinned" actors.

She tells the Waikato Times, "It's 2010 and I still can't believe I'm being discriminated against because I have brown skin. The casting manager basically said they weren't having anybody who wasn't pale-skinned. I would love to be an extra. But it just seemed like a shame because obviously hobbits are not brown or black or any other color."
