Legendary soul singer Solomon Burke died at an airport in Amsterdam, Holland on Sunday, October 10. He was 70. The "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" hitmaker was set to play a gig in the city on Tuesday, October 12, but was pronounced dead at the Schiphol Airport. No further details of his death have been released as WENN goes to press.
A former preacher, Burke signed to the same record label as in the 1960s and had his first hit with a country song, "Just Out of Reach". However his most famous tracks were "Cry to Me", which was used in "Dirty Dancing", and the ever-popular "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love", which was memorably performed by Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi 1980's film "The Blues Brothers".
