She's not 16th anymore, but her ballad "We Belong Together," taken from the album "The Emancipation of Mimi," has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 singles chart this week, marking Mariah Carey's 16th hit to do so. With such achievement, Carey obviously surpasses the likes of Whitney Houston and Madonna, who both have had 11 No. 1 hit; the Supremes to have 12 No.1 hit; and the king of pop Michael Jackson, who's had 13 number ones.

If Carey could later on mantaining her success, she would even surpass the Beatles and Elvis Presley, who have had 20 and 18 No. 1 singles respectively. "I feel like it was just timing and that for the first time, I feel like this is an expression of who I am," says Carey commenting on her ballad's success.
