The chain of success formed by sequel titles on the weekend domestic box office continues to go unbroken with the arrival of a new one on the line, none other than Universal's comedy "Evan Almighty."

Being the follow-up to 2003's "Bruce Almighty", the PG-rated flick gloriously strives to score a hefty $32.1 million in its first three-day run to thereby claim the top position on the chart ended June 24, 2007, winning over other new release of "1408."

With the continuous flow of movie sequels hitting the theaters, sure it is rather unsurprising to see one taking over after another for the top place on the box office battle, and coming out as the latest in the band is "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", the 20th Century Fox's follow-up to its 2005 "Fantastic Four."

Debuting at $58.1 million in ticket sales, the superhero flick triumphantly soars to secure the No. 1 title in the competition as the number proves far bigger than the $19.7 million booty that last week's champ "Ocean's Thirteen" has garnered, thereby forcing it to go one notch to the second position this time.

"Nancy Drew" Journey Continues

The story of "Nancy Drew" is going to have another chapter for sure. Variety has reported that producer Jerry Weintraub and helmer Andrew Fleming are gearing up a sequel to the flick with Emma Roberts reprising her role as the titular character.

The first installment, set to hit theaters on June 15 this year, is based on characters created by Carolyn Keene and centers on a female teenager named Nancy who gets involved in the case of a beautiful actress' mysterious death when she accompanies her father to Los Angeles. Lined up in the cast are Max Thieriot, Tate Donovan, and Rachael Leigh Cook, to name few.
