The Veronicas Biography

news-details Grabbed 3 nominations of Best Spankin' New Artist, Video of the Year, and Best Pop Video at the 2006 MTV Australian Video Music Awards slated to be held on April 12, The Veronicas seems unstoppable to keep evoking people's amazement since the fantastic outcome of their debut album, "The Secret Life of..." Also set to perform their next single "When It All Falls Apart" at the event, this dynamic duo delightfully continues to strive as they have fully prepared to undergo their Australian tour for some days in April, beginning from date 13 in Newcastle to then end by date 24 in Perth with an addition of a special encore for all ages concert in Brisbane at the end of the month.

Like The Everly Brothers or K-Ci and JoJo, The Veronicas is the singing duo which consists of identical twin sisters hailed from Brisbane, Australia named Lisa Marie Origliasso and Jessica Louise Origliasso. Born on December 25, 1984 to Colleen and Joseph Origliasso, both of them were raised in the suburb of Albany Creek and had already experienced the taste of show business by the time they turned five. Not only performed on various TV shows or acted in local productions, they also plunged into music industry, even had released three pop albums as Lisa & Jessica then a hit single "Baby It's Over" as "The Teal" in their teens.

Helped by their hometown's music company, Excalibur, the twins wonderfully made their way to secure a record deal with a Sydney-based label called Engine Room which then funded them to compile an excellent catalog containing more than 50 demo songs. Sensing that they had potentiality to compete in the major overseas market, the company thus brought the duo to U.S so that they could hold showcase for all the big labels in New York and Los Angeles. Much to their surprise, some of the companies eagerly offered them lucrative recording contracts not long after the performance, but the girls eventually fixed their mind to join Warner Bros Music Group under its Sire Records in 2004.

Enthusiastically worked on the materials for their first effort, these two talented girls finally launched their debut, "The Secret Life of...", on October 17, 2005 in Australia as The Veronicas, taking the name from Archie Comics' character, Veronica Lodge. The album instantly rose to the fifth rank in the country and gloriously was certified double Platinum while its singles, like "4ever" and "Everything I'm Not" satisfyingly became the number one hits on Australian TRL. Following this great attainment, the duo smoothly released "The Secret Life of..." in U.S on February 14, 2006 to also encounter sweet result there as it strived to the third position on Billboard Heatseekers with "4ever" entering the top 20 of Hot Dance Music/ Club Play chart.

However, the success, which unmistakably catapulted The Veronicas to widespread popularity, was slightly marred when Archie Comics filed a lawsuit for trademark infringement over the band's name. Fortunately, all ended well after both sides reached their settlement and even had worked together for a cross-promotion deal. It was materialized in an issue of Veronica's comic book featuring the group in which fans could find a card with a certain code to download the duo's single in MP3 form for free.

The work of their second album came to fruition after a single called 'Hook Me Up' was premiered in September 2007. The song is the lead single from their album 'The Secret Diaries of...' which is scheduled to arrive in U.S. on November 6, 2007.
