'Grey's Anatomy' Season 6 Casting: Out George, In Arizona
June 18, 2009 09:06:46"Grey's Anatomy" is going through a major transfiguration from the fifth to sixth season with the cast going in and out. Old news that T.R. Knight is exiting the show, which means that George O'Malley was dead on the season finale, is brought up to the surface again but this time EW comes with a confirmation.
The publication is quoting sources that ABC has green lit Knight's request to be released from the contract. The reason for his departure still revolves around the previous factors, including a lack of storyline for George and Knight's rift with creator Shonda Rhimes.
T.R. Knight Not Coming Back for 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 6
May 28, 2009 03:05:16As "Grey's Anatomy" enters the sixth season later this fall, there might be one character noticeably missing from the line-up. Sources are telling E! News' Marc Malkin that T.R. The root of the departure dated back when T.R. complained on the creative direction of his character, George O'Malley. The actor thought George had less screen time and lacked a story line. Therefore he wanted to be detached from the contract so that he can pursue other things. Rhimes herself refused to be explicit about the issue, simply saying "I think that there have been lots of rumors about TR, but TR's never said anything. Take from it what you will."
