July 02, 2008 11:07:02Latin pop star Shakira reportedly is set to follow the trail of Madonna and Jay-Z as the latest musician that signs a mega deal with tour promoter Live Nation. According to the latest reports, the Colombian born singer is still in talks with the company but it is expected that the deal would be finalized before the end of the year.
The mega deal, which is being called the 360-degree-deal, according to the New York Post would be worth about $70 million and will give Live Nation the rights to handle the singer's tour, merchandising and recording. Although $70 million is a huge amount of cash, a source close to Shakira stated that the pop singer should have worth more than that. "That's rich for an organization that wants to be [conservative] with these kinds of deals," the source said.

Wanna know who's on the top spot of US pop album chart for this week? It's Rascal Flatts again. The country trio reigns the album chart for the third straight week with their latest set "Me & My Gang" sold another 143,000 copies for the week ended Sunday April 23rd, 2006.
Meanwhile, the hits compilation "NOW That's What I Call Music" is at No. 2 with another 143,000 copies. Securing the 3rd position on the Billboard 200 is Walt Disney Records' soundtrack to the Disney Channel musical "High School Musical" which scores an additional 116,000 copies in its 15th week.

Shakira is getting more and more serious in taking in hand poverty causes, especially that in her country. Apparently, the Colombian pop singer recently revealed that she has teamed with a group of Latin artists to organize a Live Aid-style event that will help the poor people of her continent.
She says "We want this to be an event that brings world attention to poverty in Latin America, which is virtually invisible to the rest of the world." The event reportedly is slated to be held in 2007, though details on it have yet been revealed. Sources say the artists involved will among others include Juanes, Alejandro Sanz and Miguel Bosa, who all have track records of working for worthy causes.

The "King" no longer seats on the throne. It means T.I. no longer rules the Billboard 200. The rapper sadly has to give away the top position on the album chart to country trio Rascal Flatts whose album "Me and My Gang" sold 722,000 copies, to easily debut at No. 1 on the U.S. pop charts, while T.I.'s "King" drops to No. 3 with 185,000 copies.
The second best on the chart is the pop hits collection "Now That's What I Call Music! 21" selling 334,000 copies. The soundtrack to Disney's "High School Musical" slips one from last week's position to be at No. 4 with 181,000 copies, ahead of Tim McGraw's "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" at No. 5 sold for 128,000 copies. Enter the Billboard 200 at No. 6 with 126,000 copies is Pink's fourth album, "I'm Not Dead".

In a recap of the Top 10 albums on the US pop album charts for the week ended Sunday, there's something interesting that people could obviously see. It's the new chart-topper which debuts on its very top position.
The top spot on the Billboard 200 surprisingly is seized by Atlanta rapper T.I., whose album "King" sold almost 522,000 copies, such amount enough to push last week chart topper Prince's "3121" aside to No. 8 with only 75,000 copies. Checking in at No. 2 in the meantime is Tim McGraw's "Reflected: Greatest Hits Vol. 2," which sold 242,000 copies.

The show will be aired in over 24 Latin American countries. Also it is reported that MTV channels worldwide will air an "MTV Live Shakira" special this month, featuring the singer's first live performances of material from her current album, "Fijacion Oral 1," which was recorded in Madrid in June and features the duet, "La Tortura," with Alejandro Sanz. Ritmo was at first upset that the album promotion schedule did not include an in-store appearance at any of the company's 42 stores.
Though, things have been settled and Shakira has on Thursday met her many fans in Mexico City, signed autographs and greeted the crowds who had waited hours to see her, braving rain and long lines.
