Ne-Yo Richer After Dropped From R. Kelly's Tour
September 03, 2008 01:09:25Judge favored Ne-Yo in the case involving him and his fellow R&B singer R. Kelly. A concert promoter was ordered by the court to pay Ne-Yo an amount of $700,320 in compensation of the damages done after the singer was yanked out of Kelly's "Double Up" tour.
In January this year, Ne-Yo was suing mad after he was suddenly cut off as the supporting act of Kelly's November tour while in fact he already emptied his agenda especially for the commitment. Ne-Yo claimed that he was dropped because he was thought overshadowing the performance of the main act, namely R. Kelly. Ne-Yo reportedly was only given $50,000 for the two performances that he did and demanded the remaining contractual number of $735,000.

Once Again R. Kelly Tried to Sabotage a Rapper Mate
August 08, 2008 11:08:11Another controversy is rolling towards rapper R. Kelly. He is accused for sabotaging his rapper friend Joe. In a surprising interview, Joe says that R. Kelly has applied a pattern of stalled promotion by pressuring radio DJs, asking them not to play his record when it has started getting fans' attention.
Earlier this year after Jive Records has pushed back the release of his 2007 LP, "Ain't Nothin Like Me" for several times, Joe has decided to leave the label. Joe believes that his rival R. Kelly has been the one to blame, claiming that R. Kelly has put pressure on label executives to stall his album. "R. Kelly was very instrumental in making a lot of decisions when it came to my records being played on the radio," Joe said during the interview. "He would make a call to the radio station or to the label and say, 'Hey, this Joe record is too hot right now. Yall need to pull that back.' And they would oblige."

Kelly, who's a notable R&B singer, was first charged six years ago after a kinky sex tape surfaced allegedly shows him having sex with a girl who was as young as 13 at the time. Was charged with 14 counts of child pornography, he faces a minimum of four years in prison and a maximum of 15 years. He would also have to register as a sex offender in Illinois.

May 21, 2008 04:05:47One of the longest and much-delayed celebrity trials has reached a new stage where its defendant Robert Kelly aka R. Kelly is being faced with a video proof of him having sex with an underage girl. A sex tape timing at 26 minutes, was played during a court trial on Tuesday, May 20, sending the jurors and people in the court room to sit "motionless". Later on that day, Kelly stated that he was not the man in the tape.
According to the Association Press, the tape was shown through a 4 by 4 foot monitor with blinds drawn and lights dimmed. At the beginning, it shows a man handing a sum of money to the young girl who took it with a "thank you". She was heard calling the man "daddy" and would later dance before having sex with him. All throughout the screening, Kelly who sat on the defendant bench was described "occasionally rocked on his chair and rested his chin in his hand".

April 24, 2008 10:04:00On the heels of "Double Up" that was released last year, R. Kelly will release a new album called "12 Play: Fourth Quarter" this Summer and a promotion for it has been kicked off. A music video for "Hair Braider", the first single lifted from the set has been premiered.
The video clip was shot in Chicago earlier last month with director Malcolm Jones. R. Kelly Responded to Ne-Yo's Lawsuit
January 03, 2008 10:01:07On the roots of Ne-Yo filing a lawsuit against R. Kelly, a statement has been released today (January 3) by the latter's lawyers regarding the situation. They insisted that the dropping of Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, from Kelly's 'Double Up' tour was pure contractual.
In a statement acquired by Undercover.com.au, Kelly's lawyers said, "The idea that R. Kelly had anything to do with Ne-Yo being dropped from the Double Up tour is just plain silly. As we said at the time, Ne-Yo was dropped because of a contractual dispute with the tour promoter, and in fact Ne-Yo is not suing Kelly but only the promoter."

January 03, 2008 10:01:17Apparently Ne-Yo has not forgotten how he was thrown out mid R. Kelly's 'Double Up' Tour. The singer, who was tapped as Kelly's supporting act, filed a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles Superior Court, involving a six-figure money.
Together with Compound Touring Inc., Ne-Yo whose born name is Shaffer Smith, filed the suit against Rowe Entertainment Inc. that acts as the tour's promoter, citing breach of contract and violation of the right of publicity. Ne-Yo who reportedly only given $50,000, now demands the remaining $735,000 that was agreed when he was signed alongside the 'not-fired' Keyshia Cole and J. Holiday.
R. Kelly to Cancel Concert in Virginia: Judge Order
December 29, 2007 09:12:24It has been reported that R. Kelly will have to miss his January 13 concert after a judge ordered him to cancel it. The R'n'B singer who supposed to perform in Virginia that day, will have to show up for a court date the following day.
This has stemmed from his failure to show up in a scheduled court appearance earlier on Wednesday, December 19 after his tour bus was delayed in Utah because, reportedly, it was stopped for speeding. In anticipation, Judge Vince Gaughan has ordered him to skip the show at Hampton Coliseum.
Activists to Stop R. Kelly's 'Double Up' Tour
December 13, 2007 12:12:22After tossing Ne-Yo off his tour bus, R. Kelly is in possible threat to stop his 'Double Up' tour permanently. Not because Ne-Yo is making a retaliation but since activists are gathering a plan to boycott the tour by rallying outside his upcoming concert in Los Angeles.
The African-American campaigners are unhappy that the R'n'B singer is earning money while his child pornography trial is still unsettled. They will voice their protests outside L.A.'s Forum on Friday, December 14.

November 21, 2007 10:11:22Ne-Yo is yanked out of R.Kelly's 'Double Up' tour. A rep from Kelly's camp said that it was between both artists' managements and none is to be misunderstood as personal friction. Ne-Yo apparently disagrees with this.

Via phone from Atlanta, T.I. spilled out some hints on the new album. It turns out that Bow Wow's version is a bonus track and its promotion to radios is prohibited. R. Kelly is actually the one who has the song's rights even though in billboard it is listed as 'Bow Wow or R. Kelly (featuring T.I. & T-Pain)'.

Kelly's Sex Video
February 03, 2005 10:02:39Illinois prosecutors come back into a deeper invesigation on R.Kelly charges over underage woman seduction. After a long period of delay, those expert prosecutors are now planning to bring into the court the original sex video showing the singer doing the bump n' grind with a minor, which probably used to send Kelly to prison.
Kelly's lawyer, on the other hand, persisted in saying his client is clean and that he isn't the person shown having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl on the video. Rather, he claims the footage as the subject of a Chicago Sun-Times story shot two years ago, sometime between 1998 and 2000, that claimed Kelly to use his fame and fortune to seduce underage women.
