Star-Studded L.A. Premiere of 'Precious' at AFI Fest 2009
November 02, 2009 03:11:54With its U.S. limited release closing in by days, "Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire" has got a red carpet treatment in Los Angeles. The premiere, held on Sunday, November 1 at Grauman's Chinese Theater, was a part of the drama movie's participation at AFI Fest 2009, which runs from October 30 to November 7.
Many of the cast members were present for the special screening event. Leading actress Gabourey Sidibe was present along with several of her co-stars, including Mo'Nique who stars as Precious' mother Mary, Paula Patton who portrays Ms. Rain and Mariah Carey who takes on Mrs. Weiss.

Mo'Nique is ugly, literally. The actress-comedian is joining the cast of "Ugly Betty."
TV Guide is reporting that Mo'Nique has just been cast on the TV comedy-drama series as a weekend receptionist at "Mode."

Let's hope "Farce of the Penguins", the forthcoming spoof of the Oscar-winning documentary "March of the Penguins", will score the same success in movie industry. One thing for sure the comedy adventure, which veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson has agreed to narrate, is loaded with an all-star supporting voice cast.
The film director Bob Saget also is set to supply the voice of several characters in the flick aimed for a late-summer theatrical release. "Farce of the Penguins" is said as the story of "one penguin's search for love while on a 70-mile (112-km) trek with his libidinous buddies on their way to a hedonistic mating ritual."
