15th SAG Awards: 'John Adams' Grab Two Wins

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series goes to Sally Field of "Brothers & Sisters" while Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series falls to the hand of "Mad Men" cast.
Minutes later Laura Linney is announced as the winner of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries. She has won at the recent Golden Globes for similar role in HBO's miniseries "John Adams". Meanwhile, her co-star Paul Giamatti takes the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries.

"Slumdog Millionaire" wins over "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button", "Frost/Nixon", "The Reader", "Revolutionary Road" while "Mad Men" beats "House M.D.", "Dexter", "In Treatment" and "True Blood".
In the movie category, Danny Boyle's "Slumdog" has dominated the field, sweeping away four prizes, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. Double winners listed are "The Wrestler" and Kate Winslet. Rounding up the wins for each TV network is HBO with 7, NBC with 3 and AMC with 1. "John Adams" in particular earns four, one notch higher than what "30 Rock" gets.

After Gabriel Byrne wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series- Drama category for his role as Paul in "In Treatment", Anna Paquin is selected as the winner for the Actress counterpart, thanks to her performance as Sookie Stackhouse on Vampire drama "True Blood".
Anna who said that sucking blood is "hot" in her acceptance speech, defeats Sally Field, Mariska Hargitay, January Jones and Kyra Sedgwick upon winning. Gabriel meanwhile, kicks out his competition that includes Michael C. Hall, John Hamm, Hugh Laurie and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.

December 01, 2008 02:12:35Two HBO productions are dominating the nominees list of 13th Annual Satellite Awards which prize-giving ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 14 at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City. "John Adams", a mini-series starring Paul Giamatti, has four chances to take home an award, and so does made-for-TV movie "Recount".
Apart from Giamatti who earns a nomination for Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television, his co-star Laura Linney is also taking the similar nod, only for the Actress part. The movie itself is put under Miniseries category while its other actress Sarah Polley is contending for Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

The 60th annual awards event, which is set to be aired live on ABC from NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, Los Angeles on September 21 later this year, witnessed HBO's miniseries "John Adams" nabbed a leading 23 nominations, namely Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for its star Paul Giamatti and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for Laura Linney just to name a few.

28th London Critics' Circle Film Awards Nominees Listed
December 14, 2007 05:12:14Celebrating its 28th anniversary in honoring the best in film-making, the London Critics' Circle has officially revealed the contenders for the 2008 ALFS Awards, giving most nominations to both "Control" and "Atonement."
The two pictures each scores eight nods that include Attenborough Award for British Film of the Year and British Director of the Year, but neither of them are in the running for top prize Film of the Year. The latter slot lists out titles like "No Country for Old Men", "There Will Be Blood", "Zodiac", "The Bourne Ultimatum", and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" instead.

Laura Linney is engaged to marry. The Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning actress is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Schauer.
"They are very happy," a representative for the movie star tells E!, confirmed that Marc popped the question last week. No date has been set for the nuptials though. The marriage will be the second for Linney following her divorce from her first husband David Adkins in 2000.

According to the reports made public by Variety, Laura Linney has signed on to star in the upcoming drama comedy romance "The Nanny Diaries". The notable actress will star in alongside fellow movie star Scarlett Johansson.
Will direct the flick is Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, who both wrote the adaptation of Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus' best-selling book of the same name as well.
Dennis Haysbert Joins Breach Cast

The film, written and directed by Billy Ray, is based on an original screenplay by Adam Mazer and Bill Rotko. Already signed on to star in among others are Chris Cooper, Ryan Phillippe, and Laura Linney.
"Breach" follows an aspiring FBI agent (Phillippe) who is handpicked to work for a renowned operative (Cooper) in the classified intelligence division. The trainee discovers that his mentor might be the nation's most dangerous security risk. Haysbert, in addition, is set to play an investigating agent alongside Linney.
Man of the Year In Breach
November 09, 2005 09:11:02The year of 2005 sees our movie star Laura Linney busy working on her two film projects. She is set to star in Barry Levinson's "Man of the Year" which starts filming November 28 in Toronto and in Billy Ray's "Breach" that is about to star filming November 16 in Toronto.
As of the first movie, there Laura will play opposite Robin Williams and Christopher Walken. It is a comedy about a Jon Stewart-like host (Williams) of a late-night political talk show who runs for president to make noise on the campaign trail. The stunt backfires after a series of unusual circumstances leads him to victory. In this film, Laura will portray the head of a computer company that investigates those circumstances.
