2009 MOBO Awards Nominees Announced, Beyonce Knowles Gets 3 Kudos
August 27, 2009 10:08:43In a party taking place on August 26 at Mayfair Hotel in London, nominees for this year's MOBO Awards were uncovered. Those who got multiple kudos were Beyonce Knowles, Kanye West, Dizzee Rascal, Chipmunk and N-Dubz among others.
Beyonce, Kanye and Dizzee received three nominations each. Meanwhile, Chipmunk and N-Dubz led the pack, shadowing them all with four nods each. "It is a reflection of the industry that the guys are dominating the UK nominations, but we have identified a lot of young female talent coming through," Kanya King, the awards' founder, commented on the nominees list.

Among the likes of the Dalai Lama, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, and Muqtada al-Sadr, it's interesting to find Miley Cyrus' name on the list.
The actress-singer who's created sensation after sensation with a series of her racy pictures is said by the publication to have been "riding a huge tidal wave at the pinnacle of her career". Scores a spot, No. 59, on the prestigious list, Miley finds herself among some other senior public figures, including Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen and Herbie Hancock.
50th Grammys' Album of the Year: Herbie Hancock's 'River: The Joni Letter'

This win from the jazz musician has snubbed the chance for Amy Winehouse to sweep all the six nominations she had gained. The British singer took her fifth winning by taking Record of the Year for "Rehab".
The same album from Hancock had earlier won Best Contemporary Jazz Album. He was also nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo for "Both Sides Now" but lost it to Michael Bracker's "Anagram".
Santana's Nice Collaboration at L.A Fundraiser

Attending a fundraiser that saluted his charity work on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, Carlos Santana not only received an honor from the event's host, California Rural Legal Assistance Inc, but also took participation onstage as he, along with Herbie Hancock, joined Los Lobos to perform Santana's track of "Guajira together. According to a Los Lobos road crew member, the Latin guitarist's collaboration with the band at the event turned out to be the first in about five year.
Santana and his wife, Debrorah, received the honor for their works through Milagro Foundation which is dedicated to benefit underrepresented and underprivileged children around the world and has distributed over $2 million to provide grants for other organizations with similar purpose since its establishment in 1998.
More Stars Added to Perform at 2006 Grammy Awards
January 30, 2006 10:01:02More artists have given their confirmation to perform at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards as Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, and Sugarland have been added to the list along with Christina Aguilera, Herbie Hancock, Maroon 5, John Legend, Joss Stone, plus Robert Randolph. The award show itself will be aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8 while also is going to be broadcasted on the Westwood One Radio Network.
