AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds may not feel himself these days amid Blake Lively's lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. While he has not directly addressed the issue between his wife and her "It Ends with Us" co-star, the "Deadpool" star has hinted at feeling down in his new social update.
On Monday, December 23, the Canadian-born actor took to his Instagram Story to remind his followers to make donations to SickKids Foundation. When making a reference to a recent ad featuring him reprising his role as the Merc with a Mouth, he uncharacteristically expressed his reluctance to put the suit on.
"It's almost Christmas Eve. Last day to donate to @sickkidsvs," he wrote along with the video that also stars Lynda Carter and his 8-year-old daughter Inez Reynolds. "@blakelively and I are matching any donation to $500k. This organization is a sanctuary for so many kids and their parents traversing the unimaginable."
He went on crediting those involved in the making of the video, "Thank you @rowlandbb for directing this amazing little piece during a time I really didn't feel like putting the suit on. Thank you @reallyndacarter for your time, grace and talent. Thank you to my daughter for being such a good person despite your dad asking you to swear (for a good cause)."
Ryan released the video earlier in December to urge people to donate to the SickKids Foundation. The charity benefits The Hospital for Sick Children, a leading pediatric healthcare institution in Canada.
While Ryan has been promoting the charity, his wife Blake is currently fighting against Justin, her "It Ends with Us" co-star and director, whom she accuses of s**ual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and conducting a smear campaign against her on social media following the filming of their movie.
The "Gossip Girl" alum has received support from her colleagues in the industry, namely Brandon Skelar, who also stars in "It Ends with Us", and her "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" co-stars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera and Alexis Bledel.
Her "A Simple Favor 2" co-star Michele Morrone has also spoken up in support of Blake. Taking to his Instagram Story, he recalled seeing the actress in "pain" after she wrapped filming "It Ends with Us".
"So it's usually not my thing to make these types of videos, but I think it's time to stand up for a person I really love and this person is Blake Lively," the Italian actor said in a video. He recounted, "I personally met Blake during 'A Simple Favor 2', we shot this incredible film together, and I felt something was wrong, and I felt the pain and then we had the opportunity to talk, me and her."
"Blake was in pain. And I'm really tired to see those kind of cruel and bad comments about her without knowing the situation," Michele continued. He also linked to a New York Times article that detailed Justin's alleged plan to devise a smear campaign targeting Blake. He concluded, "Blake, I love you so much. Keep it up and we're going to see each other very, very soon. Love you."
Meanwhile, Justin's attorney Bryan Freedman has defended his text exchange with his publicist, in which they discussed a strategy to bring down Blake. "The standard scenario planning TAG PR drafted proved unnecessary as audiences found Lively's own actions, interviews, and marketing during the promotional tour distasteful, and responded organically to that," he said.
