AceShowbiz - The intense feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has escalated from gossip fodder to legal battle, with recently leaked texts painting a complex picture of allegations and counter-allegations involving both stars.
In her lawsuit, Lively accuses Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, of sexual harassment, detailing numerous instances of inappropriate conduct on set. Baldoni, however, vehemently denies these claims, suggesting that Lively herself was the source of various production issues and had ulterior motives to tarnish his reputation.
Jennifer Abel, Baldoni's publicist, has found herself at the center of this controversy. Leaks of Abel's text messages with crisis management expert Melissa Nathan have intensified the drama. Abel's texts, part of the evidence in Lively's lawsuit, reveal discussions on how to manage the fallout from Lively's allegations.
According to Abel, these communications were largely jokes about fan reactions and strategic planning that was never acted upon. "What the cherry picked messages don't include, although not shockingly as it doesn't fit the narrative, is that there was no 'smear' implemented," Abel wrote on Facebook, defending her team's actions as standard PR practice.
"I did that to the best of my ability, and felt good about our efforts," she added.
Attorney Bryan Freedman, representing Baldoni and his team, echoed Abel's defense, asserting that the leaked texts were a misrepresentation, "The standard scenario planning TAG PR drafted proved unnecessary as audiences found Lively's own actions, interviews, and marketing during the promotional tour distasteful, and responded organically to that."
Freedman criticized Lively's team for allegedly engaging in their own dubious PR tactics, thereby portraying the situation as a battle of narratives rather than facts.
The fallout extends beyond Lively and Baldoni. Abel accused her former firm, Jonesworks, of leaking personal communications. Freedman supported this claim, noting that an investigation revealed that Jonesworks had confiscated Abel's phone. In retaliation, demands have been made to hold those involved accountable.
Adding to the controversy, Lively's lawsuit includes explicit demands aimed at curbing Baldoni's alleged inappropriate behavior. These demands highlight significant issues on set, such as prohibiting the sharing of explicit videos and personal discussions. Meanwhile, Lively maintains that her legal action aims to expose retaliatory tactics used against those who speak up about misconduct and to protect others.
The case has already seen significant fallout, including Baldoni being dropped by his representatives at WME. This Hollywood saga unfolds further, revealing the intricate and often dark underbelly of the entertainment industry's PR machinations.
