AceShowbiz - Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was taken off the field in a stretcher and transported to the hospital after a helmet-to-helmet hit by Houston Texans safety Calen Bullock on Sunday, December 15.
DuBose, 23, was motionless after the impact in the third quarter of the game. Medical staff removed his jersey, unscrewed his facemask, and placed him on a stretcher before rushing him into an emergency vehicle.
According to the Dolphins, DuBose was in stable condition upon leaving the stadium and would undergo further evaluation at the hospital.
Dolphin players and coaches reacted with concern and prayed for DuBose on the field. Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III posted on Twitter, "Prayers up for Miami Dolphins WR Grant DuBose," while Fox 26 Houston reporter Will Kunkel wrote, "Terrifying moment as Grant DuBose is taken off the field on a stretcher. Pray for Grant and his family."
DuBose was in just his third NFL game. The former University of North Carolina at Charlotte wide receiver made his professional debut in September after the Dolphins claimed him off waivers in August.
The injury occurred during a pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who expressed regret over the incident. "I feel bad that I even put him in that situation to have gotten hit," said Tagovailoa.
Bullock was flagged for unnecessary roughness. He is the second Texans player this month to be penalized for an injury-causing hit. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair received a three-game suspension for his hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The Dolphins (6-7) still have a chance to reach the playoffs but must win their remaining games.
