AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman considered leaving Hollywood behind in 2008 after the birth of her first daughter with country music star Keith Urban. She felt content with her new life on a farm in Nashville and wanted to devote herself to her family.
However, Kidman's mother, a woman from a generation with fewer opportunities, advised her to "keep a finger in" acting. She believed that Kidman had the talent and opportunity that her generation lacked.
"That came from a woman who didn't have the opportunities that I had, that she had helped create for her daughters. So that's probably something that she wished she'd had when she was little," she said.
Kidman took her mother's advice to heart and returned to acting three years later. She earned her third Oscar nomination for "Rabbit Hole" and continued to take on diverse roles in films such as "Just Go With It," "Hemmingway & Gellhorn," "Stoker," and "The Railway Man."
Kidman's mother's guidance helped her navigate the challenges of balancing career and family. She recognized the generational differences in opportunities for women and the importance of not giving up on her passions.
Kidman's resilience and determination have defined her career. She will soon star in A24's "Babygirl," an erotic thriller where she plays a high-powered CEO caught in a forbidden romance with a younger intern.
Kidman's journey demonstrates that even in the face of life-changing decisions, passion and determination can guide us to find fulfillment in both our personal and professional lives.
