AceShowbiz - Madison LeCroy opened up about a significant and alarming development in her family's life in a heartfelt revelation during an episode of Bravo's "Southern Charm" airing on December 12. The 34-year-old reality television personality shared that her husband, Brett Randle, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer toward the end of 2023, coinciding inconveniently with their one-year wedding anniversary.
"Unfortunately, Brett was diagnosed with thyroid cancer toward the end of last year," Madison disclosed during a confessional interview, as tears welled up in her eyes. "I thought, 'Like, how? I'm finally happy.' It's just scary."
Madison elaborated that Brett underwent surgery to remove a three-centimeter nodule, which successfully eliminated the cancer. However, the removal surgery brought its own complications. Brett continues to struggle with swallowing, frequently feeling like "a marble stuck" in his throat. He now faces a series of specialist consultations and likely therapy sessions in order to fully recover.
Despite Brett's optimism - he repeatedly insists that he's "pretty good" and is getting used to the ongoing issues - Madison has been grappling with the emotional toll. "We'll get you fixed," she reassured him, albeit with an air of concern.
The strain has been pervasive for their whole family, including Madison's 12-year-old son, Hudson, whom she shares with her ex-husband Josh Hughes. Madison kept the details of Brett's illness vague for Hudson's sake, noting she tries to avoid displaying her emotions to maintain a strong front for her family. "When I told Hudson that Brett was sick, I didn't go into detail about what cancer can do to someone," Madison shared.
The battle has left Madison feeling both exasperated and emotionally drained. "Some days I just want to scream," she admitted, highlighting how even seemingly innocuous questions, such as plans for expanding their family, have become difficult to handle. "We were just starting to plan, but that's on pause for now."
Adding to the challenges, Madison also grappled with the loss of her father earlier in the same year. Despite these hardships, she remains committed to her marriage and family, noting optimistically, "There's a few bumps in the road, but we come out on top." Madison consistently emphasizes her gratitude for Brett's life and their time together, affirming, "I'm super happy and our married life has been wonderful."
Fans can follow Madison and Brett's journey through these adversities when "Southern Charm" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
