During her appearance on 'The Toast' podcast, Keke Palmer shares her take on the viral rumor that her 'Scream Queens' co-star can't read, while other co-stars express varying perspectives.

AceShowbiz - Actress Keke Palmer was recently surprised to learn about the long-standing conspiracy theory that her former "Scream Queens" co-star, Lea Michele, can't read.

"Damn, that's crazy. Why do people do this stuff?" Palmer exclaimed on "The Toast" podcast after hearing about the rumor.

The theory originated in 2017, when podcast hosts Jaye Hunt and Robert Ackerman suggested that Michele's unwillingness to improvise lines on "Glee" may have been due to illiteracy.

Palmer acknowledged that she had never personally seen Michele read on set but argued that it didn't mean she couldn't. "I know that she can read, y'all! She's got to!" she said.

Michele has repeatedly denied the rumor, including in a 2022 interview with The New York Times. "I think often if I were a man, a lot of this wouldn't be the case," she said.

Other "Scream Queens" co-stars have also commented on the theory. Emma Roberts joked that she and Michele hadn't been in a book club together, while Julie Bowen wondered why reading was so important.

However, some have criticized the humor surrounding the rumor. Actor Jameela Jamil called it "elitist" and "ableist," arguing that "laughing at the idea of anyone not being able to read makes YOU look like a prick."

Despite the many denials, the conspiracy theory persists, with some supporters speculating that Michele's lines on "Glee" and "Scream Queens" may have been read to her by Ryan Murphy, the shows' creator.
