Former 'Real Housewives' star Bethenny Frankel has sparked a debate over the efficacy of celebrity endorsements in political campaigns in the wake of Kamala Harris' defeat against Donald Trump.

AceShowbiz - Bethenny Frankel, former star of "The Real Housewives of New York City," has stirred the pot with her critique of Kamala Harris' strategy following her failed presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

Throughout her campaign, Harris received endorsements from a plethora of top-notch celebrities, including Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift. However, Frankel has publicly voiced her opinion that this approach was not only ineffective but potentially counterproductive.

In a video posted on her Instagram the day after the election, Frankel explained her concerns, "This was the most divisive election that I can recall in my lifetime, the stakes felt so high on both sides, people couldn't have an opinion. You couldn't say either candidate didn't do something you didn't like… something that wasn't a good business practice."

Frankel continued, emphasizing her views on celebrity endorsements, "I genuinely did not think that aligning with celebrities is and was a good idea. I don't think the American public by and large care about who is hobnobbing with celebrities, it's the forbidden fruit, it's tempting, it's right there, it's the shiny object. I don't think it's a working model, I'm allowed to have that opinion."

Kamala Harris' campaign rallies boasted performances and support from big names like Bruce Springsteen, Leonardo DiDaprio, Lady Gaga, Harrison Ford, and John Legend.

Despite this celebrity backing, Harris was unable to secure victory, leading some to question if Frankel's points hold weight. Harris' defeat has also led to a flood of reactions on social media from her celebrity endorsers, expressing their disappointment and unwavering support for the values she champions.

On the other side, Trump secured endorsements from controversial figures like Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, though fewer in number compared to Harris' star-studded lineup. Despite this, Trump managed to win the popular vote, marking the first time a Republican has done so in 20 years.

Frankel urged for acceptance and unity following the election results, "We live in a democracy and the people have spoken, the decision has been made. The country has to come together.”

Her comments echo a broader societal frustration with the polarization seen in recent elections. The debate rages on about whether celebrity endorsements are beneficial or merely an attractive distraction. What remains clear is that the 2024 election has been a notable example of the intersection between celebrity culture and politics, and the ensuing discussions are likely to shape strategies in future campaigns.
