AceShowbiz - The much-anticipated partial reunion of Destiny's Child at Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in Houston on October 25 left fans celebrating and curious. While Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland graced the stage, Michelle Williams (II) was notably absent. Her recent appearance on the "Sherri" show illuminated the intriguing reason behind her non-attendance.
Williams, who is currently starring in the Broadway musical "Death Becomes Her" as Viola Van Horn, cited her theatre commitments as the primary reason she couldn't join her bandmates. "I was so happy, but at the same time, it was the first time that I have not been able to be in person for something that I, you know, wanted to be at," Michelle explained in the October 29 episode of "Sherri". "And that is a sacrifice we make [with] Broadway. I couldn't be there, but they represented and held me down in their own way." Despite missing the event, Williams watched from afar and expressed her pride and support for her fellow Destiny's Child members.
Another layer to the story emerged from reports that illness affected her Broadway castmate Megan Hilty, preventing both from being absent at the same time. Williams has been in previews for "Death Becomes Her", which is set to officially open on November 21. An insider mentioned, "They're particularly strict about allowing her a night off to do other things."
At the Houston rally, Beyonce and Rowland enthusiastically endorsed Harris, contributing to an electrifying atmosphere. Beyonce, who introduced Harris with fervor, declared, "We are so happy to be standing here on this stage as proud, country, Texas women, supporting and celebrating the one and only Vice President Kamala Harris." She continued, emphasizing unity and the importance of Harris' candidacy for fostering positive change in America.
Despite geographical separation, Williams residing in Atlanta while Beyonce and Rowland live in Los Angeles, Williams reassured fans that the trio remains closer than it appears. "We ain't together all the time," she said, laughing on "Sherri", but added that they are "together more than people think."
