AceShowbiz - Lisa Marie Presley's posthumously published memoir, "From Here to the Great Unknown", unveils candid revelations about the highs and lows of her personal life. One of the most shocking admissions is her decision to get pregnant with Riley Keough after having an abortion.
Presley admitted that she considered the abortion to be "the stupidest thing I've ever done." Guilt-ridden, she devised a plan to conceive with Keough. She meticulously calculated her ovulation and joined him on a cruise ship where his band was performing.
"I didn't care if he wanted to be a part of it or not," Presley wrote. "I felt that I had to redeem, to make amends."
Two weeks later, Presley learned she was pregnant with Riley, who was born in May 1989. In her memoir, she acknowledged that she "trapped" Danny Keough with the pregnancy. "I didn't really mean to, but I did," she wrote. Presley and Keough married in 1988 and later welcomed son Benjamin Storm Keough. They divorced in 1994.
The memoir also reveals the circumstances surrounding Presley's abortion. She had a second pregnancy with Keough at age 19, which she described as ectopic and ended in hospital. "I couldn't live with myself," she wrote about the abortion.
Presley's daughter, Riley, co-authored the memoir and provided insights into her father's reaction to the news of his impending fatherhood. After learning he was going to be a father, Keough initially dropped the phone in shock.
Despite his initial hesitation, Keough agreed to marry Presley, who said, "Danny knew he had to marry me." She wrote, "I trapped him. I didn't really mean to, but I did," she wrote.
Presley's memoir offers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into her personal struggles and the complex relationships that shaped her life.
