In her posthumously released memoir, Lisa Marie Presley invites readers to journey through the deeply personal and poignant chapters of her life, including the aftermath of her son's passing.

AceShowbiz - Benjamin Keough, son of Lisa Marie Presley and ex-husband Danny Keough, took his own life at the age of 27 in 2020. In the memoir released after her death, Presley reveals the unconventional steps she took to cope with his death.

According to Presley, she decided to keep Benjamin's body inside her Los Angeles home for two months, a choice she explains was rooted in her need for an extended period to say goodbye, mirroring her experience with her father's death in 1977.

"My house has a separate casitas bedroom, and I kept Ben Ben in there for two months. There is no law in the state of California that you have to bury someone immediately. I found a very empathetic funeral homeowner … She said, 'We'll bring Ben Ben to you,' " Presley stated in her book.

The singer maintained the room at 55 degrees using dry ice, creating a space where she could continue to care for her son and gradually come to terms with laying him to rest. Both Presley and her daughter, Riley Keough, who helped finish the memoir, shared poignant moments during this period, including getting tattoos in Benjamin's honor, echoing the ones he had.

Riley, reminiscing about the surreal experience, wrote, "I've had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five. The tattooist agreed to go in there with us, bless him, and my mom led us into the casitas, opened the casket, and, in the most matter-of-fact way imaginable, proceeded to grab my brother's hand and point out the tattoo, discuss its positioning, show the tattooist where she wanted it on her hand. I stood there aghast, watching him try to engage in the conversation and pretend this was fine."

Ultimately, Benjamin was laid to rest at Graceland, the Presley family's iconic mansion, joining his legendary grandfather. Riley Keough poignantly captures the essence of the family's grief and their journey towards healing in the memoir, offering readers an intimate look at the multifaceted ways in which they coped with their loss.

Lisa Marie Presley, herself a musician carving a legacy apart from her father Elvis Presley, sadly passed away in early 2023 due to complications from prior weight loss surgery. Her memoir stands as a testament to the enduring love for her children and the complexity of grief, resonating deeply with those who have navigated similar paths.
