AceShowbiz - Two years after the shocking murder of rapper PnB Rock, the mastermind responsible has been sentenced. On Monday, September 23, Freddie Lee Trone, 42, was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison for orchestrating the fatal robbery of the rapper PnB Rock, whose legal name was Rakim Allen.
Trone faced charges including felony murder, two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy. This verdict came after a jury unanimously found him guilty, concluding a nine-day trial where jurors deliberated for just four hours.
The tragic event occurred on September 12, 2022, at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles. Trone had sent his 17-year-old son, now 19 and deemed unfit to stand trial, into the restaurant to rob PnB Rock, resulting in the rapper's death. During the trial, it was revealed that Trone not only planned the robbery but also acted as the getaway driver.
The rapper's mother Deannea Allen delivered a heartfelt victim impact statement during the sentencing, expressing her incomprehension at how a parent could endanger their own child. "As a parent, I do not understand - and I've been trying these two whole years - I do not understand how a parent could directly put their child in danger. I just can't comprehend it. That one action had a ripple effect, and it has ruined many lives," she said. Allen's emotional speech highlighted the far-reaching impact of Trone's actions, including the trauma experienced by her family and PnB Rock's daughter Milan, who suffered a severe anxiety attack on the day of the sentencing.
Another key figure in the case, Tremont Jones, 46, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement. Jones was found guilty of two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy. He was identified as the individual who tipped off Trone about PnB Rock's presence at the restaurant, setting the fatal plot in motion.
The murder of PnB Rock sent shockwaves through the music industry. The rapper was renowned for his 2016 hit "Selfish" and collaborations with stars like Ed Sheeran and Chance the Rapper. His fiancee Stephanie Sibounheuang, who witnessed the attack, spoke of how PnB Rock saved her life during the shooting, describing the harrowing experience on social media.
Trone's defense team, led by Winston McKesson, plans to appeal the verdict, arguing that Trone was unaware of his son's intentions and was not part of planning the murder. However, the jury was convinced by the evidence, including surveillance footage, which depicted Trone as the driver of the getaway car.
The District Attorney, George Gascon, praised the sentencing, offering condolences to PnB Rock's family and fans. "His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure," stated Gascon, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to achieve justice in this case.
