AceShowbiz - Charlamagne Tha God has nothing to complain about Roc Nation's pick for Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show headliner. After Kendrick Lamar was officially announced to perform at the big game next year, there has been a debate about Jay-Z's company selecting K. Dot over Lil Wayne.
In a Monday, September 9 episode of "The Breakfast Club", Charlamagne and his co-hosts jumped into the conversation and discussed whether or not Kendrick is ready for the gig. After dismissing people's complaint about the Weezy snub, Charlamagne urged people to just be grateful that Roc Nation is keeping Taylor Swift off the stage for another year.
"Just remember one thing that we all can collectively be about in the culture," he said towards the end of the discussion. He exclaimed, "Just be happy we didn't get Taylor Swift. Thank you Roc Nation for blocking Taylor Swift once again!"
Charlamagne predicted, "Every year for the last four or five years, I bet you they've been trying to push Taylor Swift down our throats and Roc Nation said, 'No, we going black.' One back to black to back to black back to black every year for the last five years."
"The Breakfast Club" guest host Loren LoRosa disagreed, claiming that the pop superstar has "been carrying the NFL on her back y'all." She insisted, "We are standing on the shoulders of Taylor Swift," prompting Charlamagne to react in surprise, "What?" He then cut her off as saying, "You going to get cut on them little sharp a** shoulders."
The selection of K. Dot for the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show has sparked a heated debate on social media, with Nicki Minaj seemingly taking Weezy's side. "Go & enjoy your fkng money b4 it's too late ... One n***a took a knee The other n***a took the bag," she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The "Anaconda" raptress, however, later seemed to backtrack on her initial comment as saying, "You can love & respect Kendrick and still love & respect Wayne." She added, "Even Kendrick loves & respects Wayne. Every real rapper loves & respects Wayne."
