AceShowbiz - Bethenny Frankel has found herself in hot water following her recent statement about the Hamptons. After talking about "rich people" in the popular seaside resort, the former star of "The Real Housewives of New York City" was criticized by many social media users.
Recently, the 53-year-old former reality TV star made use of her TikTok account to upload two videos that she captioned "Hamptons Coffee Breakdown" and "This [is] the breakdown so you don't have a breakdown." In one of the videos, she could be heard saying, "So the Hamptons is an amazing place because its farm meets beach meets woods."
Bethenny went on to state, "And there are all kinds of people here. It's not only rich people. That's not a joke, okay?" She stressed, "There are all kinds of people." The TV personality further explained, "There is a big Latin community here. Big. There is African American community here on the beach. Beautiful houses. I had a house there one summer," before elaborating more about the island.
A short clip from the particular video was later shared by blogs on Instagram, prompting social media users to voice their thoughts on Bethenny's remark. In the comment sections, one in particular asked, "So Rich is a race? Got it."
Another wrote, "Black people are rich too baby . Who gonna tell her ?" A third questioned, "So rich is a synonym for white?" Meanwhile, a fourth penned, "Every time this woman open up her mouth I keep disliking her more and more."
In contrast, other Instagram users came to Bethenny's defense. One of them stated, "I'm not a Bethany fan whatsoever, but I feel like she was just explaining that the Hamptons are not just rich white people. It's a diverse place of other ethnicities."
Similarly, another said, "I know exactly what she tryna say that lady is not racist please stop." A third added, "Did y'all not hear her say African Americans who are living in a beach in huge houses ? Lol I'm confused as to what yall heard."
