AceShowbiz - Gypsy Rose Blanchard has opened up about her plans in raising her child. The "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up" star, who has been criticized over her pregnancy, vowed to "be kind" to her unborn kid.
Recently, the 32-year-old star shared what kind of mother she wants to be for her child. In a new interview published by PEOPLE on Wednesday, July 10, she said, "I want to be kind, that my kids come to me for any kind of advice, just like my stepmother."
Gushing over her stepmother Kristy, Gypsy went on to say, "I have seen how she has parented her children, and I think she's a kick-a** mom. She's supportive and not overbearing. She lets her kids find their dreams while also being able to pick up the pieces when those dreams fall apart sometimes, so that's kind of the mantra I want to live by."
Gypsy further stated, "All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby." Making a reference to her late biological mother Dee Dee, she recalled, "My mother told me I was never going to get married, raise a family, have kids or do any of that."
"So, to be here, standing on my own two feet and expecting my first baby, that's something I've reached as an achievement and a personal goal," she continued. "I thank God every day that I am now having this second chance at life with a kid of my own."
Gypsy candidly shared, "The way my mother parented me is definitely not the way I'm going to be. We always say for the next generation, we want to be better than we were raised. And so, for me, I think that couldn't be any more truthful." She then stressed, "I have learned from the experience of the trauma of everything not to do."
The interview came after Gypsy, who was released from prison in December 2023 for conspiring to kill her abusive mother, announced that she is expecting her first child with former-fiance-turned-current boyfriend Ken Urker. After breaking the news on Instagram and YouTube on Tuesday, July 9, she received mixed responses from social media users.
While some users showed their support for Gypsy, others put her on blast. One in particular wrote, "Girl you couldn't even take care of a DOG." Another chimed in, "You going to get rid if the baby like you did your dog?" A third stated, "That's so disappointing. You really needed more time to just be out."
