Imagine Dragons and Dua Lipa battle for the top spot at the Official U.K. Albums Chart, while Taylor Swift maintains her dominance on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
- July 9, 2024
AceShowbiz - Imagine Dragons have secured the highest new entry on the Official U.K. Albums Chart with their latest release, "LOOM", debuting at No. 5. This marks their sixth top 10 album in the U.K., joining the ranks of previous successes like "Night Visions", "Evolve" and "Mercury - Acts 1 & 2".
Despite Imagine Dragons' strong performance, Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" remains unyielding at No. 1, enjoying its eighth non-consecutive week at the summit. The album has accumulated over 542,000 chart units since its release in April, making it the biggest album of 2024 so far.
Meanwhile, Billie Eilish's "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT" climbs one spot to No. 2, further solidifying her position as one of the year's standout artists. Camila Cabello also makes her mark with her new album, "C,XOXO", which debuts at No. 20, becoming her fourth Top 20 entry.
In other chart news, Dua Lipa's "Radical Optimism" surges up the chart to No. 3, fueled by the buzz from her Glastonbury performance. Her earlier albums, ""Future Nostalgia" and "Dua Lipa", are also experiencing renewed interest, re-entering the top 40. Johnny Cash's posthumous album "Songwriter" is expected to debut at No. 11, while Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits" makes a comeback, aiming for the No. 18 spot after her Glastonbury appearance.
The midweek chart also reveals strong performances from Madness' "Theatre of the Absurd presents C'est La Vie", which could re-enter the top 40, and "The Warning's Keep Me Fed", which is poised for their first-ever Official Albums Chart placement.
The final chart results will be announced on Friday (July 5), promising a thrilling conclusion to this week's chart battle.
