AceShowbiz - In a heartfelt statement made on Wednesday, August 21, Daniel Platzman officially announced his departure from the world-renowned rock band Imagine Dragons. "After an incredible journey of over a decade, I will be departing the amazing band that is Imagine Dragons," Platzman shared. "I wanted to share my deepest gratitude to you, the fans, for your unwavering support and sharing in the joy of music with me. Connecting with you all has truly been the highlight of this chapter."
Platzman joined Imagine Dragons in 2011, soon after graduating from the Berklee College of Music. He replaced the original drummer, Andrew Tolman, and quickly became an integral part of the band alongside Ben McKee, Wayne Sermon and lead vocalist Dan Reynolds. That same year, the band $igned with Interscope Records, and they released their hit debut album, "Night Visions", in 2012, eventually achieving five certified platinum records. The band's success has been cemented with multiple hits and a loyal fan base over the years.
In March 2023, Platzman took to social media to announce a brief hiatus to focus on his health. Subsequently, fans noticed his absence in press materials and music videos for the band's recent album, "Loom", which landed at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart in July 2024. While Dan Reynolds, the band's frontman, did not provide specifics about Platzman's departure when asked, he confirmed that "Tolman will play drums on the Loom tour," indicating a filling role for the upcoming live performances.
