AceShowbiz - Jason Kelce found himself embroiled in social media drama after a user on X (formerly known as Twitter) harshly criticized his wife, Kylie Kelce, labeling her as a "homemaker whose home is a mess." The criticism followed Kelce's outspoken remarks against Harrison Butker's contentious commencement speech at Benedictine College, which tackled sensitive issues such as women's roles and family life.
Responding directly to the troll, Jason asserted his view of Kylie as not just a homemaker but as his equal partner. "I think of her as my wife," Kelce wrote, "I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can."
He emphasized that their marriage is a partnership, where both are equals working together amidst busy schedules with three young children. "The only expectation is that we love each other, support one another, and are committed to our family, that comes first," Jason added, reiterating that their shared effort in raising kids and managing their home is what matters the most.
The controversy stems from Butker's speech, where he claimed women have been fed "diabolical lies" about their life choices, touching on contentious topics such as abortion, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and surrogacy. Butker's remarks faced backlash from the NFL, celebrities, and fans, prompting Jason and his brother Travis Kelce to address the issue on their podcast, "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce".
Jason noted that Kylie felt "a little bit frustrated with some of the comments," adding that "if my daughters listen to anybody tell them what to do, that they should be homemakers, then I've failed as a dad." He clarified he wasn't downplaying the role of a homemaker if it works for some families, but stressed it's not the dynamic in the Kelce household.
"If being a homemaker, works for some, and that's what they want, then hell yea, that's awesome, more power to you," Jason stated. "I want to be clear, I'm not downplaying that at all, but that is not our family dynamic."
Travis Kelce, Butker's teammate, commented that although he respects Butker's love for his family, he disagrees with most of his views expressed in the speech. "I don't think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life, that's just not who I am," Travis remarked.
Joining Kelce in defending Butker's character, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes echoed similar sentiments earlier in the week. Mahomes acknowledged the diversity of perspectives within the team's locker room, emphasizing the importance of respecting differing opinions.
"When you're in the locker room, there's a lot of people from a lot of different areas of life," Mahomes said. "There are certain things that he said I don't necessarily agree with but I understand the person that he is, and he's trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction."
The debate continues as people weigh in on social media, reflecting broader discussions about gender roles and family expectations. Jason, Kylie Kelce, and Patrick Mahome's responses highlight the importance of mutual respect and shared responsibility in their household.
