NBA announces in a new statement that the Cleveland Cavalier player tested positive for two types of steroids, which are also banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the NCAA.

In a statement, the league revealed that the 32-year-old tested positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033 which are also banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the NCAA. His suspension is set to be effective beginning with a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

In response to the suspension, Cavaliers issues a statement in which it expressed its stance to "fully support the NBA/NBAPA Anti-Drug Program." The statement further read, "We are disappointed in the recent news surrounding Tristan Thompson. His time away from game action will have an impact on our team. We stand behind Tristan and offer our support throughout this suspension period."

His suspension came less than a year after he returned to the Cavs in September 2023. Tristan, who is averaging 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest this season, recently switched his jersey number from 12 to 13, the number he wore when he first played in Cleveland back in 2011.

"Wearing any other number didn't feel right," he said. "Back together, Number 13 forever."

The former boyfriend of Khloe Kardashian previously played for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings. The Canadian athlete, who was with the Cavs for nine seasons, also briefly joined the Celtics.

His on court drama aside, Tristan has been dealing with controversies surrounding his relationship with Khloe, with whom he shares two kids together, True and Tatum. He admitted in an episode of "The Kardashians" last season that he wanted to give his romance with Khloe another try after his cheating scandals.

He additionally shared that he learned a lesson about taking accountability. "I’m a firm believer that if you make a mistake, you have to be accountable for it and stand on two feet. You do the crime, ya gotta own it," he said in the episode.
