AceShowbiz - Shakira's ex Gerard Pique has become the butt of the jokes on the Internet. Fans of the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker mocked the former professional soccer player after he was caught on camera falling off the stage at an event.

The incident took place when the 36-year-old attended the launch of his Kings League Americas competition on Tuesday night, October 24. In a video surfacing online, the athlete could be seen walking to the side of the stage to greet fans.

Gerard appeared to be listening to a voice message on his phone while he was approaching a fan who held a Barcelona T-shirt. Unfortunately, he failed to spot a gap between the stage and the barrier holding the fans back.

Many have since made fun of Gerard. "Karma is a stage," one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another penned, "Don't disrespect the stage queen and then expect the stage to respect you." A third chimed in, "Things haven't been working out for him since Shakira got her hips outta there."

Shakira confirmed her separation from Gerard in an Instagram post last June. "We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding," the "Waka Waka" songstress wrote at the time. The split came after it was said that Gerard cheated on the singer with his now-girlfriend model Clara Chia.

Following her split from Gerard, Shakira left Spain and moved to Miami with their two children, Milan and Sasha. The breakup wasn't easy for Shakira though since she admitted in a September interview that she has struggled to overcome her heartbreak.

"My priority was my home, my family. I believed in 'til death do us part'. I believed that dream, and I had that dream for myself, for my children," she told Billboard. "I think that nothing can compensate for the pain of destroying a family. Of course, I have to keep going for my children's sake; that's my greatest motivation."
