AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky may have kept his cool when arriving late to the 2023 Met Gala, but his journey to the star-studded event wasn't without any drama. The New York City native has been forced to issue a mea culpa after he's caught jumping over a fan ahead of the fashion's biggest night.
On Monday, May 1, Rocky was seen in a viral video attempting to make his way to the entrance of The Carlyle, but found himself behind a wall of fans instead. Weaving his way through the crowd awaiting glimpses of their favorite celebrities, the 34-year-old succeeded in getting to the front, but had to jump over a barrier, using a woman's shoulder to help hoist himself over the barrier set up by the hotel and knocking the woman's glasses askew in the process.
Shortly after the incident, the confused woman, a 21-year-old named Maddy, took to Twitter to share a video of the rapper jumping over her. "A$AP ROCKY JUST USED ME TO JUMP OVER THE BARRICADE HELLO," she wrote.
She also posted her selfie with her oversize frames after the incident. "A$AP Rocky just literally jumped over me," she reiterated.
Catching wind of the woman's tweets about his antics, Rocky soon expressed his remorse. "LOL MY FAULT $WEETHEART," he wrote back to Maddy. "I'm printing this on a t-shirt," she joked back, adding, "Why is A$AP now oomf [one of my friends]?"
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Maddy admitted that she was initially confused as to why Rocky had to jump over her, but assured that she wasn't injured. Responding to people who encouraged her to take legal action, she wrote on Twitter, "Stop asking if I'm suing A$AP. Literally how would I do that?"
The woman from Long Island has been able to laugh it off as she added in another tweet, "my life has been a joke for the last 24 hours."
At the Met Gala, Rocky made his fashionable entrance with Rihanna despite their late arrival. He wore a Gucci suit jacket and a kilt over a pair of shimmering jeans held up by numerous belts, but it was his partner's bridal look that sparked chatter on social media.
The pregnant singer donned a white Valentino ensemble featuring a flower-adorned cape and dramatic train. The 35-year-old star completed her look as she accessorized with white false eyelash-adorned sunglasses and a deep red lip.
Many have since speculated that Rih may have hinted at wedding with her dress. "I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think this is a nod to Rihanna and ASAP getting married," one fan tweeted. "She's late and she's the last to arrive and she's in a wedding dress."
"I have a feeling Rihanna is married #MetGala," another wrote. A third weighed in, "Is this Rihanna's wedding and we're all just finding out about it...like go awf sisssss. Like surprise Met Gala this is actually my wedding... K thanks."
