A representative for the 'Yellowstone' star says the circumstances are 'beyond his control' as the actor's wife Christine Costner seeks to end their nearly two decades of marriage.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Costner's nearly two decades of marriage is falling apart. His wife Christine Baumgartner a.k.a. Christine Costner has filed for divorce to end their 18-year marriage amid his "Yellowstone" drama.

According to TMZ, Christine filed the divorce papers on Monday, May 1. It's unclear what led to the split, as the designer cited the usual "irreconcilable differences" as the reason why she decided to pull the plug on their marriage.

In her filing, Christine asks for joint custody of their three kids, Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12. She, however, is not asking for spousal support since there is a prenup in place.

In his response filed on Tuesday, Kevin also asks for joint custody of their children. His lawyer and disso-queen Laura Wasser says in his response, "Spousal support to be payable to petitioner pursuant to the terms of the parties' Premarital Agreement."

After news of their divorce broke, a representative for Kevin said in a statement, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action." The rep added, "We ask that his, Christine's and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."

Kevin and Christine got married on September 25, 2004 at his ranch in Aspen, Colorado. It's his second marriage after he married his college sweetheart Cindy Silva in 1978, but it ended in divorce in 1994. He shares three children with his ex-wife, daughters born in 1984 and 1986, and a son born in 1988.

Kevin and Christine's divorce comes following reports that the former model wanted him to quit "Yellowstone". "Christine was sick of Costner being away from the children for months while filming the hit Paramount series in Montana, and her patience was starting to fray," a source told Radar Online in October 2022.

"It's really knocked a hole in their family life," spilled the so-called friend at the time. "The show is such a mega-hit, producers want it to go on forever! However, Christine wants her husband to hang up his cowboy hat, with an insider saying her patience is starting to fray."

The pal claimed Christine warned Kevin, "She wants a firm commitment this is his last season - or he might have to hit the dusty trail!"
