Lizzo's 'About Damn Time' is named Best Record of the Year, Harry snags Album of the Year for 'Harry's House' while Samara Joy is hailed as Best New Artist.

AceShowbiz - It's about damn time Lizzo had a big night at the Grammys. Returning to the show since she was last nominated in 2020, the Detroit native took home one of the biggest awards at the ceremony, which was Record of the Year for "About Damn Time".
The "Juice" hitmaker edged out other strong contenders such Adele, Beyonce Knowles, Mary J. Blige, Doja Cat and Harry Styles. Taking the stage to accept the award, she said in her speech, "Let me tell you, Adele and I are having a wonderful night rooting for our friends." She dedicated the award to Prince, revealing, "When we lost Prince I decided to dedicate my life to creating positive music."
The 34-year-old said she felt misunderstood making positive music but "I wanted to make the world a better place." She explained, "I'd like to believe not only can people do good, but that we just are good. We are good inherently. And anybody at home who feels misunderstood or on the outside looking in like I did, just stay true to yourself. I promise you you'll attract people who believe in you and support you."
Lizzo also gave a shout-out to Beyonce. "In the fifth grade I skipped school to see you perform. You changed my life," she shared, before gushing over her idol, "You sang that gospel medley -and the way you made me feel, I was like I want to make people feel this way for my music. You clearly are the artist of our lives."
Lizzo won a total of two awards at the 2023 Grammy Awards. She earlier won Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, which was announced at the Premiere Ceremony. She was also billed as a performer at the main ceremony, belting out "About Damn Time" and "Special".
Also taking home a coveted award at the Grammys was Harry, who won Album of the Year for "Harry's House". "I've been so inspired by every artist in this category with me," the British singer said. "On nights like tonight, there are no such things as 'best' in music. This is really really kind. I'm so grateful. This doesn't happen to people like me very often."
The former One Direction star picked up other prizes for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical earlier that night. He also took the stage to perform his hit "As It Was".
The Best New Artist award went to Samara Joy, a jazz neo-traditionalist with a lovely major label debut album, "Linger Awhile". Beating out the likes of Anitta, Latto (Mulatto), Maneskin and Muni Long for the award, she tearfully said onstage, "I've been watching you on TV for so long. All of you inspire me for being who you are."
The biggest winner of the night, however, was Beyonce, who set a new record for the most Grammy wins. She made history after winning her fourth Grammy that night, for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for "Renaissance".
"I'm trying to not be too emotional," she said when accepting the award. She thanked God for protecting her mother before thanking her parents "for loving me and pushing me." The 41-year-old went on thanking "the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre." She also dedicated her win to her late uncle Jonny, who inspired the album.
Kendrick Lamar, who was the second most nominated artist at this year's Grammys, took home three awards out of eight nominations. He won in the Rap Performance, Rap Song and Rap Album categories.
Adele took home one Grammy for Pop Solo Performance, while Brandi Carlile won three. Taylor Swift also didn't come home empty handed, winning Best Music Video for "All Too Well: The Short Film" which she directed.
