AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian shares a strong message after WNBA player Brittney Griner was released from Russian prison after months behind bars. Making use of her Instagram account, "The Kardashians" star reposted a message as she advocates prison reform.

On Sunday, December 11, Kim took to her Instagram Story to re-share a tweet mentioning Brittney, who arrived in the U.S. earlier this month. "If we can get Brittney Griner out of a Russian prison for weed, surely we can free Americans who are sitting in American prisons for the same thing," so the tweet read.

Upon learning of the post, Internet users quickly agreed with Kim. "No one should be sitting in prison for weed anywhere in the world honestly," one fan wrote in an Instagram comment. "Weed should be legally in all US states period. Records expunged as well!" someone else opined.

Another user added, "It's so wild to me that people are still sitting in prison for something that is now legal. It just shows you laws are steered in the direction the so called powers that be want it steered to."

Meanwhile, some others slammed Kim for responding to Brittney's situation a lot quicker than she did to Balenciaga controversy. "She was quicker with this than belanciaga," one person shaded the SKIMS founder. "we aint forget about you and balenciaga," another person commented.

Kim has been using her platform to advocate for prison release. The 42-year-old reality TV star, who is working to be a lawyer, previously called for the release of rapper Gunna, who was arrested in RICO case.

"Gunna has reportedly been dropped from any violence acts and hasn't been named by any of the witnesses," she wrote on Instagram Story on Friday, September 30. "He's spent 141 days in jail so far and will have a 3rd attempt at bond soon." Alongside the message, Kim also posted an Instagram post which caption read, "FREE GUNNA."

Kim was among those who publicly called for Gunna's release following his arrest in May. In July, she showed support for the "YSL" rapper in a tweet which read, "#FreeGunna." She also added the emojis "Free" and "P," in reference to the artists song "pushin P".

Born Sergio Kitchens, Gunna turned himself in to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office in May. He was later charged with one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Following the arrest, Gunna's attorneys Donald F. Samuel, John A. Garland and Kristen W. Novay released a statement in which they claimed that their client "is innocent."

The statement also shut down the authorities' claim that YSL Record, whose founder Young Thug was also arrested, is not a record label but a criminal street gang. "The indictment falsely portrays his music as part of criminal conspiracy. Mr. Kitchens, an entertainer, and philanthropist, created the first ever local free in-school grocery and clothing store feeding over 400 children weekly, and nationally sponsored giveaways for victims of disasters and food shortages. Mr. Kitchens has been an advocate for his community, and it is our privilege to advocate for him," it read.
