After facing heavy criticism over her performance on 'Britain's Got Talent', the 'Never Enough' singer insists that she is an 'unsigned, independent artist' who is 'still trying to make a name' for herself.

AceShowbiz - Loren Allred is standing up for herself. "The Greatest Showman" singer, who sings "Never Enough" in the movie, has defended herself after facing heavy backlash following her Golden Buzzer on "Britain's Got Talent".

"Even though I have spent a lot of years in the music industry, people don't know who I am. Over all these years I've been fighting for my chance to be known and to make it," the 32-year-old singer said in a statement published by Metro on Sunday, April 17. "The opportunity to sing 'Never Enough' evolved from being a session singer in the choir, and even though the song was a big success, people still think that the actress sang it."

Loren went on to add that she's "never gotten the opportunity to tell [her] story." She pointed out, "That's never happened for me. I am an unsigned, independent artist still trying to make a name for myself."

"BGT" producers also released a statement after Loren received the Golden Buzzer from judge Amanda Holden. "Whilst most people will have heard the infamous Greatest Showman track, Loren is not a household name, and she deserves her spot on the BGT stage," read the statement.

"We hope that such articles will not count against somebody who is well-deserving of this opportunity," they added. "It's fantastic that Loren is now able to step out and stand in her own right to be the face, and not just the voice, of one of the most well-known tracks of all time."

On Saturday, April 16, Loren stunned the "BGT" audience and judges with her shocking revelation that she was the one who sang "Never Enough" in "The Greatest Showman", not Rebecca Ferguson. While Amanda was "absolutely shaking" over the show's opportunity to give Loren her "moment to shine," Alesha Dixon said Loren gave an "otherworldly" performance. In the meantime, Simon Cowell was left speechless but was sure to applaud Loren for "one of the most incredible audition moments [he has] ever experienced."

However, many Twitter users criticized Amanda's decision to crown the first golden buzzer of the season. "I don't think that was really the one that sung in greatest showman because it sounded off imo," one critic opined. Another slammed the show, "BGT is supposed to be amateurs not professionals and what I think you should be from Britain to enter as that's what the show implies."

"Why she's acting like she's never been on a stage before? She's had her shot, this show is for people who haven't had opportunities like her," someone else argued. A fourth quipped, "Title of the show is all wrong - it should be 'Someone From Somewhere Already Famous or Not Professional or Not Has Got Talent' a bit long winded I know but it fits better."
