AceShowbiz - "The Masked Singer" returned to show the Group B finals. In the Wednesday, December 8 episode of the hit FOX show, Banana Split and Queen of Hearts took the stage with one of them being sent home at the end of the episode.
Banana Split kicked off the night, performing "Singin' in the Rain" by Arthur Freed. Banana conducted an orchestra while Ice Cream sang for everyone before she started tap dancing. In their clue related to the panelist, Banana said of Nicole Scherzinger, "Nicole, I love when you plant a little seed, and then you watch it grow and do great things over the years."
That convinced Nicole that Banana Split were producer David Foster, who mentored her, and his singer wife Katharine McPhee. Robin Thicke, however, didn't think his uncle David would come on a show dressed like a banana, guessing Ryan Tedder and Leona Lewis. As for Jenny McCarthy, she named Jeff Goldblum & Emily Goldblum.
Queen of Hearts followed it up with a performance of "Bird Set Free" by Sia Furler. Nicole was in awe by the performance, exclaiming, "All hail the queen." Ken Jeong, meanwhile, said they were honored to be in her presence. In her clue, Queen of Hearts claimed that, like Ken, she was not afraid to get in the ring and get a little bit dirty. That made Ken think that she could be Christina Aguilera. Nicole guessed Jewel.
Later, Banana Split took the stage to sing a duet of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" with Robin, who was still behind the panelist desk. Robin gushed over Ice Cream for her unlimited range and colors. As for Queen of Hearts, she teamed up with Nicole to sing "Dream On" by Aerosmith. Jenny was blown away, adding that she's honored to be part of this show.
It was finally time to reveal the winner of Group B. According to the voting by the audience and the panelist, Queen of the Hearts advanced to the next round. Before Banana Split unmasked themselves, the panelists revealed their final guesses. Robin guessed Ryan Tedder and Leona Lewis, while Nicole, Ken and Jenny believed they were Katharine McPhee and David Foster. Banana Split were indeed Katharine and David!
