The 'Dukes of Hazzard' alum also says he is 'dismayed' and 'disgusted' by the former 'Saturday Night Live' star's 'refusal to show any guilt' in a recent ABC interview.

AceShowbiz - As reactions to Alec Baldwin's first TV interview since the "Rust" shooting are coming in, one thing has become clear that he didn't win John Schneider's sympathy. The "30 Rock" alum has been slammed by his fellow actor following the sit-down with ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

John, who has been critical of Alec's decision to do the interview, thinks that by the way the 63-year-old described how the incident happened, he seems to be blaming the gun for the shooting. "This is becoming an obvious attempt to blame the gun," the "Dukes of Hazzard" alum told Fox News Digital. "Guns don't work that way. They don't load themselves and they don't fire themselves. That's absurd."

The actor/country music singer went on calling out Alec for refusing to show any "remorse for his actions." He said, "I'm dismayed and disgusted by Mr. Baldwin's refusal to show any guilt, shame or remorse for his actions."

"I'm embarrassed for my industry and the dark cloud that this is causing to come over it," the 61-year-old continued to weigh in. "My sincere hope is that this is not a smokescreen to hide some darker truth."

In the interview which aired on Thursday, December 2, Alec said he never pulled the trigger. "The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger," he stressed. "So, you never pulled the trigger?" George asked for confirmation, to which Alec responded. "No, no, no, no, no." He insisted, "I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them."

When asked if he feels guilt, Alec replied, "No. no." He then elaborated, "I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don't say that lightly." He added though, "I have dreams about this constantly now. I go through my day, and I make it through the day. Then I collapse at the end of the day. Emotionally, I collapse."

During the interview, Alec also fought back tears when he talked about cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was shot and killed when the gun he was holding got discharged. "She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with her, liked by everyone who worked with her -- and admired," he said, before pausing as he closed his eyes with his hand. "Even know I find it hard to believe that" it happened, he added. "It doesn't seem real to me."

Meanwhile, Alec's wife continued to show her support for her husband following the interview. One day after the interview, she posted their kissing picture on Instagram and wrote along with it, " 'I am here, I love you, and I will take care of you.' These were the only words that came to me when we learned Halyna had died. I remember saying that phrase over and over again."

"The horrific loss, the torture to her family, and you, my husband, somehow put in this unthinkable nightmare," she continued in the lengthy caption. "That moment, etched in my memory, photographers surrounding you, on the phone with me, documenting your agony. I couldn't be near you to hug you, our connection over the phone, a visual for the world to see."

The yoga instructor went on praising Alec for the interview. "I was afraid for you to open up because I've seen your spirit crushed, your mental health shattered, your soul in unimaginable pain. Sometimes I wonder how much one body, one mind can take. I don't want to lose you," she wrote. "You know yourself and wanted to speak. I am proud of you."

"You and I don't always get it right, but we have big hearts and we love deeply," she admitted. "So I go back to, 'I am here, I love you, and I’m going to take care of you.' We honor Halyna and her family. To hopefully figure out how this happened and whatever we can do to make sure it never happens again."

"My Alec, I am here to heal any of your pain that I can. I am not going anywhere. Onward to being Alec and Hilaria, messy, emotions strong, but lots and lots of love-until the very end," she concluded her message.

Alec later responded in the comment section, "I'm lucky. Sometimes it doesn't seem that way to me. But having you and our family…I'm the luckiest guy on Earth."
